TILDA“Here you are, Tilda,” Oscar said as he walked up to me, just as I was finishing a discussion with some guests.“Oh, Mr. Gray,” Mr. Trevor called out cheerfully. “O. Gray did amazingly well recruiting Miss Tilda,” he complimented.Oscar extended his hand to the guests. “I hope you had a nice time, Mr. Trevor. I’ll go over your proposal soon.”Mr. Trevor shook his hand. “Alright, Mr. Gray. I’ll be waiting.”Oscar gently took my hand and led me away from the group.“I think they’re gone,” he mumbled.“Gone? Who?” I asked, trying to keep my tone steady.“I wanted to introduce you to the kids—my little friends. It was meant to be a surprise,” he said softly. My heart paused. I had been avoiding him all night. What would happen when he found out the truth?“You were so busy, but this was the only chance I had to get you to meet them. They’re lovely, and I promise you’ll love them,” he continued.“Oh, Oscar, I can always meet your little friends another time.” My voice trembled slight

THIRD PARTYWith fingers trembling, Diamond stretched forth her hand to collect the phone, unsure of what to do, especially since she doesn’t have Oscar Gray’s number.“Take it, Diamond,” Shantel persuaded with a cleverly concealed smirk. “Your daddy should take us to meet Grandpa Monsieur King.”“Um,” Diamond swallowed hard, staring blankly at the phone in her hands. “I will call my daddy now, okay?” she fought to remain bold.Shantel giggled. “Tell him I love peanut chocolate ice cream. We should stop at the store to get one.”Diamond continued to scramble some numbers on the phone, anxiously anticipating a miracle. “I will get some ice cream too. But Mommy said I shouldn’t take much sugar,” she mumbled. If it was discovered that she had no relationship with Oscar Gray, it would be the end of her among her little friends. Not to mention that Shantel might not want to remain friends with her after that.Diamond lifted her gaze slowly. “I was wondering, Shantel.”Her voice began to cr

TILDABack at my house, we stayed in the car and continued sipping the drinks we brought along, careful not to get drunk since I was the one driving. They tasted so good, we couldn’t seem to get enough. I couldn’t help but wonder what the locals used to make their drinks so rich and flavorful. It wasn’t until I felt the buzz of near-drunkenness that I finally mustered the courage to speak to Oscar.“Can I ask a favour?” I began.I knew that I shouldn’t be doing this, but with what the alcohol had done to my system, I couldn’t care less. It was the only thing that mattered to my daughter, Diamond, at this point.“What is it, dear?” he asked, his eyes desperately searching through mine. “You know you can ask me for anything.”Without hesitation, I went straight to the point. “Can you return James’ property? Life has become too hard for them since you took away everything.”“Pardon?” he stared at me, suspicion creeping into his voice. “Is it the drink? Have you had too much already?”I g

TILDAWith uncertainty, I leaned on the door as I watched Miranda get the kids dressed to leave for Monsieur King’s estate. It was today—I would have to reveal everything to Oscar today, even the fact that I wasn’t sure of the kids’ real father. He might think low of me or even push me away, but I wasn’t going to continue living these lies anymore.“Won’t you be there, Mommy? You aren’t dressed yet?” Dixon asked.“Oh,” Dylan stared at his phone. “Mr. Gray says he will come to pick us,” he announced.“No!” My heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t find out just yet. I already had my plans on how to go about it.“Are you changing your mind now, Mommy? We can cancel,” Dixon said.“Yes, Tilda, if you don’t want this yet, we would understand,” Miranda agreed.“No, I mean to... to tell Mr. Gray not to come over,” I stuttered.Their curious eyes turned to me, none saying anything.“Um, just tell him you’re already out and will find your way to the estate,” I explained. “He shouldn’t know you live

TILDAI stopped by the door the moment I saw Lady Sheila seated in Oscar’s office.“You can come in, Tilda,” Oscar called out, not even glancing in my direction.“Actually, sir…” I began nervously.Lady Sheila cut in before I could finish. “Is she still here, Oscar? You should have fired her already.”Oscar flicked a quick glance at me, fuddling with the pen in his hand.“I can come back later, Mr. Gray,” I said, trying to excuse myself.“No,” his voice cut in, firm and clear. “You should leave.”I paused, confused. “I... I should?” I stuttered. He nodded, eyes returning to his desk. “Aunt Sheila, you can go now. I must focus on work.”Lady Sheila scoffed, rising slowly from her seat. “Hmph… You can’t possibly have her here after what you found out.”When Oscar didn’t respond, she slammed her fist on the desk. “Oscar! I am speaking to you.”To my surprise, Oscar stood and calmly took her by the arm.“I won’t appreciate any more interference in my work, Aunt,” he said as he led her tow
