Lloyd's POV“Me too,” Lena added. “Everything went too easy. Either something is not adding up, there’s something we’re not seeing, or there’s a part two coming up. And by the stars, I really hope this is where it ends.”“Nothing ends until sorcery is completely vanquished,” Davina’s voice dropped.“For once, I agree with witchy-bitchy,” I echoed immediately.“Will you stop calling me that?” Davina turned to me with a light glare.“You’ll have to stop with the name calling first,” I gave her a blank stare. “And have yourself put together for once.”“Alright, guys, guys,” Lena cried. “Not right here. Not right now.”I pulled my gaze away from Davina, and Davina looked away. Elora continued.“Since we’ve started with the acting and all,” Elora started. “I might just as well continue with it. I need to get to the house, pretend to be a good mate, and see if I can get something out of that red head.”“That jerk,” I made a low growl.“His name’s Zeke,” I gave him a look. He shouldn’t admit

Lloyd's POVIt was late into the night, but I couldn’t get myself to go to bed. The wind rustled my hair while I stood outside the balcony of my room, looking at the dark sky with a crescent moon suspended up high, lighting the garden below in a silver glow. The air was soothing, but I was not really there—I was still with Elora in the car.How she got out and got into the house still tugged hard on my chest like a hard string. I wish I could stop her, but I couldn’t. Even the custom doesn’t allow community responsibilities to usurp on family. And even though I know the mission was not an exact family time, I could help the jealousy that followed anytime she mentioned Zeke’s name.I leaned forward, resting my elbow on the railing and peering into the silver-light layered gardens. Technically, Elora is helping the mission in the best way she knows she can, and we could use any information she gets us on the Crimson Circle. She said she needed to talk with him, but what if the si

Lloyd's POVShe was still holding the collar of my shirt tight, but she was pulling. I wanted to grab her hand, to shove her away, but I couldn’t. I wanted her to feel how I felt when she left that night, even when I told her that it was a bad idea. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that she knew it was a bad idea and still decided to go ahead with it intentionally. After a moment of suffocating silence, I broke it.“You did this to yourself.”She let go of my shirt quickly, taking a step back with a blink. “What?”“I remember telling you that there could be another way,” I purred.“And I told you it was our only chance,” she shot back. “We were in a lose-lose situation.”“We’ve been in worse,” I added. “And we survive without compromise.”She turned away, walking back to the floor-to-ceiling mirror in the room. “I did what I had to do,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I told you not to,” I said again, defiant. She spun around. “Well, I went ahead and did it.

Lloyd's POVThe rest of the day was spent grilling the sorcerers we had in the dungeon for a couple of weeks, and to be honest. With just me and Xavier having to do the job, I missed having Elora around. She had stormed out after the conversation we had in my bedroom, and since then, no one had heard from her.Done with another round of grilling, I stepped out from the basement to meet Ragnar standing with the omega Tanya. She handed me a towel dipped in cold water, and I pressed it against my face before drawing a deep breath from the fresh air around me.“I’m going for another break, Ragnar,” I stated. “I’m sure Xavier could use a hand down there.”He nodded and went down to the basement. I headed towards the main entrance of the Alpha House in long, powerful strides. When I got to my study, I dropped into one of the couches in the room, pulling my phone out of my pocket and dialing Elora’s number. It rang for a moment before her voicemail voice took over. “This is Elora, and I

Lloyd's POVI was still standing in my study with Davina, who sort of thinks that staying away from hunting my missing beta would somehow miraculously solve my problems. Was she okay? What was she thinking? “Let me through, Davina,” I growled. “The more we waste time here, the more things get more serious. Not like you understand that.”“I’m not going to let you through here until I can exactly determine where Elora is at the moment.“Then get the damn show underway already,” I cried. “Find Elora if you have to. Just let me go and find her.”Davina frowned at me, then stormed out of the room. I tried to walk out after her when I slammed into the barrier again and staggering back.“Great,” I hissed. “Just great when you have witchy-bitchy in your house. Now, I’m in some magical house arrest in my own hours for caring.”I headed back to the couch and dropped in, leaning back and trying to stay calm, but it was so difficult. There was no telling where Elora was now, and what bad shit sh
