บททั้งหมดของ The Beloved Granny of the Death Game: บทที่ 1 - บทที่ 9

“Mom, you’re still as tough as nails. Take one for the team!”My adopted son kicked me straight into the pitch black hellhole. My lower back slammed against a jutting rock.Pain shot through me.It hurt so bad I drew in a cold, hissing breath. This old spine of mine had rusted stiff years ago. A fall like that nearly shattered me into pieces.I pushed myself off the ground, slow and steady, and brushed the dust off my worn cotton pants. Before me stood a gloomy, abandoned apartment block. Its windows were dark and barren, with no hint of life inside. Then, out of nowhere, a voice rang out from above.[Welcome to the dungeon Whitmore Private Academy Dormitory. Your challenge is to survive for one week.]The voice stuttered halfway through, carrying a strange and unnerving energy.[The player count is now eight.][Good luck and have fun. Death may be an early release.]I did not really understand what that was supposed to mean. All I could see were a few blurred silhouettes

I hauled my aching back up to the fourth floor. The busted wooden door of Dorm 4404 creaked open, and a foul stench hit me.It had me gagging and hacking for breath.A sickly yellow glow leaked out through the crack, along with a sound that made my teeth ache. It sounded like bones being gnawed and chewed to splinters.I took a deep breath and stepped inside.Lord have mercy! The place was a landfill come to life. There were broken bowls, moldy bread rolls, rotting cabbage leaves, and piles of filth everywhere. The floor was coated in a black, sticky grease that sucked at my shoes.Inside, a scrawny little boy, thin as a stick, was hunched over in the corner. He was straining over some dark, shapeless heap I could barely see.He whipped his head around when he heard the noise of me stepping in.His face nearly stopped my heart. His cheekbones were sharp enough to cut, his eye sockets were sunken deep like black holes, and his lips were split and peeling back to show yellow tee

Some of the remaining players were scheming.Day seven. There was one day left to beat the level. The last three surviving players exchanged glances and sidled toward me.“Mrs. Wade! Mrs. Wade!”The one with big eyes put on a fake smile.“We found a spot. It looks like there might be a clue to finish the level! But it’s dark, and we’re scared. Could you lead the way?”My old eyes squinted, but I did not see through their scheme.I figured that I would help if I could. I followed them toward the rooftop. The moment I stepped onto the last stair, before I regained my balance, Scar Face and Skinny Monkey lunged from either side, wrenching my arms tight.“Hey! What are you doing? Let go!”“What am I doing?”Big Eyes’ fake smile vanished instantly.“You old hag! You call yourself the granny of the dormitory. You’re so up your own ass!”Scar Face growled along, “Yeah! You’re buried up to your neck in dirt and won’t be alive for much longer! You might as well do something useful

“Oh my God! What the hell are you?! You undead old hag!”Scar Face and Big Eyes shrieked. They were acting like rats scalded in hot oil, tumbling and scrambling toward the edge of the rooftop in opposite directions![Wait, what kind of boss is Granny?! She made one of them disappear by just pointing at them!][Holy crap! One point, and they’re ashes?! What kind of boss level is this?! Even the S-tier final bosses aren’t this brutal!][Granny! Look at me! I swear, if I ever enter this dungeon in the future, please protect me! I’ll even donate my family’s pickled cabbage!][Skinny Monkey: I died so fast! I didn’t even get to say my final words!]The remaining two screamed and howled as they ran.“Granny! Granny! Please! Spare us! We were wrong! We’ve learnt our lesson now!”“Have mercy! I’ve got an 80-year-old mother and a toddler at home! I don’t want to die!”“We meant no harm! The ghosts made us do it! Please spare our lives! We’ll work for you like slaves!”Their gut-wrenc

I patted Chloe’s icy hands and ruffled the pale hair of the hungry little boy.“Let me tell you all a story. Back when I was still living in the village like a regular person…”I started my tale.I told them about the freezing winters in my small village, the cozy warmth of my little house, the big barrels of pickled vegetables, the lively feasts during the New Year, and the daily gossip of neighbors…I even talked about how I scrimped and saved to send my adopted boy to school, watched him get married, and dreamed of holding my grandkids someday…It was nothing thrilling, just the ordinary ups and downs of life. The ghosts were mesmerized.Chloe forgot the cold and snuggled closer. The hungry little boy forgot his hunger and propped his chin up on his hands. The poltergeist stopped being grumpy, quietly squatting in a corner.Even the banshee forgot to cry. There was a glimmer of hope in her swollen, red eyes.“Being human isn’t so bad, huh?” Chloe asked in a soft voice.“
