Nicole's POV The rain was relentless, drumming against the car roof.He slowed the car, pulling to the side. “The rain’s getting heavier,” he said casually, though I caught the slight smirk tugging at his lips. “Might be safer to pause for a bit.”I frowned, glancing at the wipers. “Uh… okay?”He killed the engine, and the car fell into a quiet bubble of sound, rain pattering all around. I shifted in my seat, suddenly hyper-aware of him. Adrian’s gaze flicked toward me, steady, intense, and something in it made my stomach twist.“Nicole…” he began, voice low, cautious. The way he said my name sent a jolt through me. I swallowed, unsure whether to look away or lean in.“I—” I started, but he cut me off, leaning closer, closing the space between us. His hand brushed mine, fingers lingering, light but deliberate. My pulse spiked, heat rushing through me, and I found my breath catching. And then his lips were on mine. Soft at first but it became insistent, demanding in a way that left me

Nicole’s POVI checked the time but Liam was still not back, I felt myself choked up with guilt concerning what happened earlier, I tried not to overthink it.I stood by the window, watching the sky darken into the evening. Liam was busy. He had said that himself. Work ran late sometimes, especially now. I understood that but still… something felt off.I picked up my phone, thumb hovering over his name as l pressed call.It rang twice and went straight to voicemail.I frowned, pulling the phone away from my ear to check the screen, as if it might explain itself. I tried again but still it went to voicemail. My chest tightened just a little. Maybe his phone’s on silent, I told myself.I paced slowly across the room, bare feet brushing against the rug, my thoughts refusing to settle. Outside, the rain had returned in a light drizzle, tapping against the glass in a way that made the house feel too quiet.I called again but still nothing. I exhaled sharply, rubbing my arms as unease crept

Nicole’s POVI couldn’t stay in that house another minute. The silence was too loud. Every corner felt heavy with things unsaid, questions unanswered. So I grabbed my bag, slipped on my shoes, and left without telling anyone where I was going, although the housekeeper saw me. Zara’s place was close, and it was still too early for her to be at work. I needed her noise, her warmth, her honesty. The cab dropped me off just as the sun fully rose. I didn’t bother knocking. Zara had given me a spare key months ago, insisting I use it anytime I needed her. Anytime, she’d said. This counted. I unlocked the door quietly and stepped in.But I froze the moment I looked around. Clothes were scattered across the living room like casualties of a war, jacket on the chair, shoes kicked off near the couch, Zara’s dress hanging halfway off the armrest. My brain barely had time to process it before I looked up.Zara was on the couch, so also was the man. Very naked infact. I was very sure that this gu

Nicole’s POVZara’s workplace was busy, music playing low in the background as her workers moved around, arranging things and checking lists. I sat on a stool near the counter, watching Zara pace back and forth with her phone in hand.Zara suddenly stopped and turned to me. “Okay. Enough.”I blinked. “Enough of what?”“Enough of that face,” Zara said, pointing at me. “You’ve been quiet since morning.”I looked away. “It’s nothing.”Zara scoffed. “Nicole, please. I know you too well.” She dropped her phone on the table and crossed her arms. “What happened between you and Adrian?”My heart skipped. “Why would you ask that?”Zara raised an eyebrow. “Because I can and I'm curious.”I hesitated, my fingers tightening around my clothes. “It was just… awkward.”“Awkward how?” Zara pressed, stepping closer.I sighed. “There was a moment. That’s all.”Zara’s eyes widened. “A moment moment?”“Zara!” l hissed, glancing around.Zara grinned.I rubbed her forehead. “We kissed and his hands went un

Nicole’s POVI was bent over one of Zara’s tables, trying to arrange sample cards by color when I felt a familiar presence. That strange feeling… like someone was watching me.I lifted my head and froze.Liam stood just a few steps inside the office, hands in his pockets, eyes already locked on me. For a second, my brain refused to catch up. I honestly thought I was imagining him. I didn't expect him to come here, although I purposely ignored his calls and messages.“Liam?” My voice slipped out before I could stop it.Relief flashed across his face, quick and raw, before he masked it with a small smile. “Hi.”Before I could say anything else, Zara appeared beside me like a storm. “Oh no,” she said sharply, stepping in front of me. “You.”Liam blinked. “Zara—”“Don’t ‘Zara’ me,” she snapped, folding her arms. “If you’re here to mess with her head, you can turn around right now.”I reached for her arm. “Zara—”She ignored me completely. “Do you have any idea what she’s been dealing with
