MELHe let out a low chuckle and I almost shifted backward on the small couch as Connor leaned in even closer to me, a lazy, dangerous smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. The sudden proximity sent a strange flutter straight through my stomach. "So, tell me," he said softly, his ocean-blue eyes searching my face. "Why exactly did you end things with Matt?" My brows drew together in instant confusion, and I gave him an exasperated look. "Are you serious right now? You don't know why?" Connor gave me a small, nonchalant shrug, leaning his chin in his hand as he watched me. "Humor me. I want to hear it again from you right now." I scoffed, shaking my head. "Don't try to embarrass me, Connor. It’s annoying." He chuckled softly, a warm sound that made the air between us feel even tighter. "Mel, come on.
