CASSAIN I step out of the training arena as the day's wind blows against my skin, but it does nothing to cool the inferno inside me. Having Evelessa back has calmed but then again, I feel absolutely restless which indicates something is about to happen which is why I am at this time of the night, at the arena trying to calm my nerves. My wolf snarls inside me as I roll my shoulders, trying to shake off the restless energy vibrating through my body after tonight’s match. The stadium lights behind me flicker like distant stars. The cheering crowd is fading, the noise dissolving into the quiet darkness of the parking lot.Lucian jogs up beside me.“You nearly killed the opposing captain tonight again.”I glance sideways at him.“I showed restraint.”Lucian snorts.“That man left the field on a stretcher.”“See?” I shrug. “Alive.”He shakes his head, but there’s amusement in his eyes.“Cassain, one day your temper will be the death of you”My wolf suddenly goes still and my eyes slowly s

CASSAIN "Don’t you dare Alexander "I lean against the hallway wall for a moment, just listening to their bickering and smile.“You’re exaggerating,” Alexander says.“I’m not exaggerating!” Evelessa snaps. “Three girls are dead!”My jaw tightens.I step into the living room.Evelessa is pacing back and forth like a storm trapped in human form. Her dark hair swings wildly around her shoulders, her eyes burning with fury.Alexander lounges on the couch like he’s watching a particularly entertaining play.Lucian stands by a chair watching them then her gaze flicks over me.“You’re bleeding,” she says immediately.I glance down at the faint red stain on my shirt.“Barely.”She crosses the room in two strides. Her fingers grab the fabric near my ribs and pull it aside to inspect the wound. My wolf purrs like an idiot.“It’s already healing,” I say.She frowns.“What happened?”“Sebastian sent assassins.”Alexander waves a hand lazily.“Over Seventy of them.”Evelessa’s head snaps up.“You

CASSAIN "Wake up Evelessa...babe wake up"It's exactly one day after discovering that Evelessa is Medusa and after our tryst, I wake up to find her unconscious "Come on Evelessa..." I touch her forehead, her hand, her back, every part of her body to get a reaction but I get none. What do I do? I tie a robe and get one for her as I portal to Seraphina’s home; as soon as I appear in her living room, Seraphina jumps up in panic immediately "What happened to her" "I...I ...don't know...one minute she was Medusa, the next minute we are having sex before long she's unconscious."Michael suddenly comes running from another direction "She's transformed already...quick..come with me" I go with him as Seraphina follows behind nervously until we get to a place; more like a beautiful acquaruim where some daughters of the sea are waiting "Her eggs are out....the throne has passed on to her"I clear my throat "What's going on? What do you mean eggs?"He takes her away from me and place her on a t

EVELESSA "Hmmp..."Aretha laughs "If you sign one more time, I'm calling Cassain over. You said you wanted to go shopping with me without anyone."I'm standing in the middle of an expensive boutique, staring at clothes yet picking nothing. Two weeks ago I woke from a coma with silver hair, a crown that appears whenever it feels like it, and the news that my mer body produced children while I was unconscious.Four boys. Two more discovered shortly after.Apparently mer biology doesn’t do things halfway.Aretha stands beside me, holding up a tiny shirt embroidered with sea-blue thread. Her expression remains calm as always, but I catch the faint amusement in her eyes.“This one,” she says, “will survive the washing machine.”I raise an eyebrow.“That’s the selling point?”“You have four boys now,” she reminds me.“Aretha...how did I go from a regularly overlooked teenager to a mother of six?"I glance around the boutique again.Baby clothes everywhere.Small shoes.Soft blankets. It’s

EVELESSA "Her hair is so beautiful and she looks divine...." The whispers follows me everywhere as I move through the courtyard wearing waist beads worth several billion and an anklet capable of stopping a magical attack. Somehow, the whole supernatural world knows I've just had four babies. The crown flickers briefly above my head as I cross the lawn before dissolving again.A few first-year students stare. One of them almost trips over a bench.I pretend not to notice. My second year officially starts today and I’m still adjusting.Balancing classes while visiting my sons whenever possible. The boys are currently staying at Cassain’s estate under enough security to defend a kingdom.Apparently powerful supernatural infants attract attention. They have more mer nannies than any royalty I know and they've been growing so fast.I reach the stone bench beneath the oak tree near the central courtyard and sit down with a sigh. The afternoon sun warms the grass. For a moment...there's pe
