My eyes opened slowly. For a moment my vision was blurry.“Where am I?” I whispered. As my sight slowly cleared, I quickly realized I was in my room.My body felt heavy. I tried lifting my hand and noticed a drip attached to it.What happened? The sharp, raw pain in my throat suddenly brought the memories rushing back.Kyle.He strangled me.For a moment I had thought it was just a terrible nightmare and that I had only woken up from it.But I wasn’t dreaming.I turned my head slightly and saw my mum and Alice sitting on the couch across the room. Both of them had their chins resting in their hands, dozing off from exhaustion.Alice’s hand slipped from her chin as she nodded off, then she placed it back again. My throat felt as dry as a desert.“Alice…” I whispered weakly. Her eyes flew open immediately.“Mum… Mum!” she said quickly, tapping her. “Alia is awake! She’s awake!”Both of them rushed toward the bed.Alice’s eyes immediately filled with tears.“Alia, are you okay?” she aske

Chapter 64Drew’s POVI had never been to a police station all my life, but right now I didn’t mind staying here as long as it meant I had given that son of a bitch a beating he would never forget. If the officer hadn’t taken Kyle to another room, I would have given him another round.I sat quietly in the small office, my elbows resting on my knees. My leg wouldn’t stop tapping against the floor.I was anxious.I didn’t know if Alia had woken up by now.I stared at my fists. My knuckles were bruised and slightly swollen, stained with dried blood.Kyle’s blood. He should pray that nothing happens to Alia.If it does…He won’t see daylight again.I shook my head quickly.I shouldn’t be thinking like that right now.The doctor had assured me she would be fine.Still, the image of her lying there on the floor refused to leave my mind. That morning I had gone to Alia’s house to return a piece of earring she had left in my car in a hurry the day before.I knew I would be seeing her at the o

Chapter 66 Alia's pov “Who would send this?” I turned to Drew, my voice shaking in disbelief. “Only a sick person would,” Drew said grimly. He closed the box with the rat inside and pushed it aside, like he didn’t want me looking at it anymore. “Are you okay, Alia?” “Of course not!” I almost screamed. I knew I had told myself I needed to get myself together and stay in control of my emotions, but nobody prepares you for something like this. This was beyond ordinary. In fact, it was insane. I sat on the chair forcefully. It felt like I was jumping from one trouble to another. Just yesterday it was Kyle. Now today… an anonymous threat. “This picture…” I said slowly, pointing at it in Drew's hand It was taken when we went to that charity event years ago. Do you remember?” I brushed my hair back in frustration. “Thats true” Drew looked closely “ Part of me wanted to say, like I always did, that it was just an empty threat. But this felt too real to be e

Chapter 68Drew’s POVAlia’s face was filled with anger as she waited for my answer. She was like a volcano that was about to erupt, her chest rising and falling in rage.“Drew,” she called out again, her voice louder than before. “I believe you heard me the first time. Why would Priscy ask you about my kids?”“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said, still avoiding her gaze, my fingers curled slightly against my palm.“Then why did you drag me out of there like that?” she asked, her hands opening in front of me.I could see it in Alia’s eyes. She needed answers. This wasn’t how I planned to tell Alia. I knew I didn’t have much time on my hands, but I didn’t know it was this close. Who would have thought I’d see Priscy at the site today? The same person who told me about the possibility of being Alia’s kids’ father. It was this close for everything to go wrong. If I weren’t there with Alia… she would have found out. And I didn’t want her to find out from a third party. I wante

Chapter 70 “That child in that picture is me, Alia,” Drew repeated. Despite hearing it for the second time, my heart still sank, dropping heavily in my chest like something had been ripped out of place. I couldn’t fathom it. I bent down and picked up the picture, leaving the shattered pieces of the frame on the floor, my fingers slightly trembling as I stared at it again. People do have doppelgängers… that’s normal. But what isn’t normal is that Drew’s childhood picture looks exactly like my Liam. My throat felt dry. I slowly lifted my head and looked at Drew, finally finding my voice. “Okay… why are you showing me this?” I waved the picture at him, my voice shaky, almost like I didn’t recognize it myself. His jaw tightened slightly, his eyes fixed on me like he was waiting for me to see it I wondered if he could see the resemblance too. “Alia… you see it, don’t you?” I didn’t say anything. I couldn’t. “Liam and I…” he paused, running a hand through his h
