No notice. No termination emails.I rose off the bed, relief washing over me like a wave. The shower was quick. I didn’t do too much with the outfit. But it was different. Daring. Luring. Professional and risqué in equal measure, in a way that made me stand in front of the mirror a little longer than necessary.A confidence I didn’t know I had left started to build.Because if he wanted to fire me, he would have by now. I would have woken up to that mail.Because today wasn’t going to be about him. Today would be different.I was done with the emotional rollercoaster over a man who wouldn’t dare admit to the things that made him human. When I did — I admitted it. I did want him. Maybe I still did. But I refused to give him power over how my entire day went.I was done being the try-hard.Mike wanted to start something. He hadn’t been vocal about it but I knew it the way you know things that are said in the space between words. And if that was what it took to completely erase the memor

The night before shouldn’t have been a complete waste of time, but it was.Because somehow, in the middle of all of it — the woman, the scotch, the deliberate and exhausting effort of trying to fuck her out of my mind — Aurélie had managed to find her way into my bedroom. Into my thoughts. Into the space between me and whoever I’d decided would help me scrape her off.I wasn’t going to deny that. I wasn’t denying anything anymore. Everything was true and I was tired of the effort it cost to pretend otherwise.I didn’t get attached. That was the foundation of how I’d always operated — attracted until you gave me what I wanted, and then you became another piece of nothing in my sight. So why wasn’t this that?I stood in front of the mirror that morning and asked myself that question with the same flat, clinical tone I used in boardrooms, and got nothing back but rhetorical silence. When I stepped into the elevator that morning, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t preparing myself. Gearing u

I stumbled out of his office a different person than I’d walked in.My knees felt weak, embarrassingly weak, and for a moment, my office felt like it belonged to a different building— Relatively smaller and difficult to be in. Like the air had been replaced with something thicker, something that pushed back when you tried to move through it.How does he keep doing that. One minute he was insufferable. Cold. Nonchalant. The next minute he had his hand on my waist and his mouth close enough to my face that we could share the same breath and his eyes were doing that thing, that taunting thing that made every sensible thought I’d ever had feel like a suggestion rather than a rule.First the elevator. Now this?Mid-internal crash out, Mike’s face arrived in my head and a sharp, quiet pain moved through my chest. Not the small kind. The worse kind — small, guilty and persistent.Mike was the nice one. The stable one. The kind of person who randomly showed up with things you like because he’

The door clicked shut and I exhaled — loud, sharp, deeper from just my lungs. My hand dropped below my belt without a thought. I gripped the girth of my cock, jaw tight, and just stood there for a second trying to locate whatever version of myself existed before she'd walked through that door this morning. What the fuck was I supposed to do? I couldn't function with a boner. Not with her sitting right outside. Not when every thought I attempted somehow kept turning into the image of me stretching out her virgin cunt and how perfect she’d feel around my cock.Fuck! What the hell had she even been asking for? A secret fling? A fuck buddy? Some kind of down low affair she’d designed to trap me in while I was still trying to talk myself out of fucking her?“I want you to have sex with me?”She'd said it so casually, eyes locked on mine, her chin slightly lifted and the faintest tremor in her voice that she'd tried to hide and somehow failed at it. No warning. No hesitation. Just the words

The sound of my own pulse was embarrassingly loud in Mr. Reynor’s private restroom.I stood with my back against the cold tile wall and stared at the ceiling, trying to process exactly how I’d arrived here. From that first night — the one that didn’t end well, the one I’d been trying to stop thinking about since — to the insufferable back-and-forth boss to employee relationship, to this. The two of us playing hide and seek behind a bathroom door while Marcus Lint stood barely eight feet away completely unaware. The thrill of it moved down my spine before I could stop it.My pussy and thighs were wet — his saliva, my own cum, the remnants of everything that had happened on that couch still clinging to my skin. I pressed my legs together. It didn’t help shit. The ache between them was a living, breathing thing at this point, insistent and completely uninterested in being ignored. For one weak, reckless moment my hand moved toward the hem of my skirt. Then Marcus’s voice cut through the
