AlexI stood there in the doorway still wearing Jax’s oversized clothes. The shirt hung loose on my shoulders and kept sliding around. The pants were too big and I had to keep pulling them up so they would not fall down my legs. Damien’s car had already disappeared down the street but my heart kept pounding hard like it wanted to jump out of my chest. Everything from the night before felt stuck to me. The mess from the sex. The yelling. The gunshot. All of it.Jax stepped closer and put a hand on my arm gently like he was trying not to scare me. “Alex come on. Breathe okay. He’s gone now. We can figure this shit out together. Just take a second.”I yanked my arm away so hard I almost tripped over those stupid loose pants. “Figure it out? That is rich coming from you Jax. Damien always does this to me. He pulls me in close like I am the only person in the world who matters and then he spits out some crap about depression or how he used to be straight or whatever excuse makes him feel

AlexI blinked a few times and tried to sit up on the couch. My head hurt bad like someone smacked it. The lights in the back room at the station were too bright. A cop stood near the door looking at some papers in his hands. I felt dizzy and confused.“You okay there kid?” the cop asked me.I did not get a chance to say much. The door opened and Jax came in quickly . He looked mad and worried at the same time. His shoulders were stiff. The cop gave him a nod because they knew him from all the other times stuff went wrong around me.Jax crossed his arms and leaned on the wall. He stared right at me. “They called me. Said you passed out right in the lobby. What the hell happened Alex?”I rubbed my face with my hands. Everything from the night with Damien and his dad and the gun and now Knox came rushing back into my head. It made my stomach feel sick.“I went there to talk to Knox,” I told him. My voice sounded rough and tired. “But he is gone. He escaped. Took his daughter and just le

Alex Before I could answer he moved in fast. His mouth crashed against mine. The knife clattered to the floor but he kept me pinned with his body. I tried to push him off but my arms felt weak. Part of me did not want to. The kiss got deeper and messier. “Mark stop,” I gasped when he pulled back for air. “We need to get you help.”“Shut up,” he muttered against my neck. His hands moved rough over my skin. “Just let me have this.”I kept talking even while my body reacted to him. “This is not going to fix anything. You need a hospital. Tests. Real doctors.”He did not listen. Instead he flipped me over and pressed me down. His voice cracked when he spoke again. “I fucked up with my brother. I cannot fuck this up too. Not with you. Let me feel something good before it all ends.”We went at it again right there on the floor. Hard and fast like he was trying to outrun his own thoughts. I dug my fingers into his back and tried to focus on getting through to him between breaths.“You are

Alex He kept going until we both finished. Then he pulled me into his arms so we could rest. His body felt warm against mine and his hand stroked my hair slowly. We breathed together for a while. I thought about how much he changed when the pain from the tumor hit him. His gentle touches turned desperate. His loving words turned into fearful cries. But then he woke up in panic when I tried to leave. The struggle started all over again. He pinned me down and we fought on the floor until the seizure came and made his body shake. He dropped the knife and whispered my name with so much pain in his voice.“Alex… do not leave me. I am sorry. It hurts so much. Please stay. I need you here with me,” he begged. His trembling hand touched my chest again. His fearful eyes locked on mine.Mark pulled me close after we finished. His heavy body rested right on top of mine as I felt his heart beating fast against my chest. His breathing slowed down bit by bit until it matched my own. His strong ha

JaxI slammed my fist on the police station counter so hard the whole thing shook. Three days. Alex had been missing for three fucking days and this guy behind the desk acted like I was asking him to fix my Wi-Fi.“What do you mean I have to wait another twenty-four hours?” I snapped, leaning over the counter. “He’s been gone since the warehouse. No call, no text, nothing. That’s not like him.”The bored officer didn’t even look up from his paperwork. “I’m saying someone is saying they saw him less than 24 hours ago walking on the street. Adult male, no sign of foul play, history of volatility. Come back tomorrow.”“Volatility? That’s bullshit and you know it. How are they even sure it’s Alex?! What the fuck!!” My voice got louder. I could feel the heat rising in my face. “I already checked Mark’s place. Blood on the floor. Actual blood. Hospital said he never showed. Even went out to the ruins of his old house. Nothing. He’s gone.”The cop finally glanced at me, eyes flat. “ Watch yo
