The ruins never truly slept. Even beneath the pale light of the fractured moon, broken towers watched over silent streets like forgotten giants. Wind slipped through shattered windows, carrying ash and the scent of damp stone. Somewhere in the distance, a lone feral cried into the darkness. Then another answered. Husen paused atop the remains of a collapsed overpass. His crimson eyes narrowed."No..." Something was wrong. For centuries he had walked these ruins. He knew the habits of every creature that called them home. Ferals were chaotic. Wilds hunted on instinct. Their movements were driven by hunger not discipline. Tonight, there was discipline.Below him, nearly twenty wilds moved through the streets. Not wandering.Searching. Each beast stopped at the same intersections, scanned the same buildings, then continued together without breaking formation. Husen remained perfectly still. His gaze followed them."...Interesting."One creature suddenly raised its head. It wasn't sniffin

The chase refused to end. Steel clashed against steel as Husen sprinted across the shattered rooftops, boots skimming over cracked concrete before carrying him into another leap. Behind him, the hunters of House Nysera pursued with relentless determination, their crimson cloaks flashing through the ruins. The wilds had become part of the chaos. What had begun as two separate battles had merged into one. Claws tore through broken walls. Vampire blades flashed beneath crumbling overpasses. Stone exploded beneath heavy impacts as ancient buildings surrendered another piece of themselves to time. Husen cut down another charging wild with a single sweeping strike. The creature collapsed before he was already moving again."This is getting tedious," he muttered.Another hunter appeared ahead, forcing him to change direction. He vaulted through the shattered window of an abandoned apartment block, crossed three empty rooms, and burst out the opposite side into a narrow alley. The city blurre

The massive gates of Zelios groaned open as the patrol returned with the first light of dawn. The familiar sound should have brought relief. Instead, Sera felt nothing. Her eyes remained fixed ahead as the hunters crossed beneath the towering walls. Behind them, the ruined world disappeared once more behind reinforced steel and layers of concrete. Safe. At least, that was what Zelios wanted everyone to believe. The patrol stopped inside the receiving chamber. As always, the routine began immediately. No celebration. No questions. Only procedure. "Remove all weapons." Silver daggers, sidearms, crossbows, and utility knives were placed onto long steel tables. "Outer gear." Bloodstained jackets, gloves, armor plates, and boots followed. Everything was catalogued. Everything was disinfected. Teams of medical personnel moved with practiced efficiency between the returning hunters. Portable scanners swept across their bodies while technicians recorded every minor injury. A nurs

The ruins stretched for miles behind him. Collapsed towers, fractured streets, abandoned bridges, and empty valleys blurred together as Husen continued moving until even the scent of battle disappeared into the night. Only then did he stop. He stood before what looked like nothing more than a weathered cliff face, overgrown with vines and hidden behind centuries of moss and broken stone. To anyone passing by, it was simply another forgotten part of the wasteland. Husen reached toward the rock, pushing aside a curtain of hanging vines. A narrow passage revealed itself. Without looking back, he disappeared inside. The tunnel twisted deeper into the mountain before opening into a surprisingly spacious chamber. It was quiet. Warm. Simple. This was home. Not a mansion. Not a castle. Not the ruins of an abandoned city. A cave. One he had carved with his own hands over decades. Every shelf had been cut into solid stone. Every doorway had been shaped patiently, one strike at a time. Water flo

Zelios slept. After every night patrol, the underground fortress always settled into an uneasy silence. Corridors that had bustled with hunters and medics only hours earlier now lay nearly deserted. Night lights casting long amber shadows that stretched across the polished floor. Outside, morning sunlight washed over the ruined world. Inside Zelios, thick layers of reinforced stone swallowed the day whole. Sera lay awake on her bed. She had closed her eyes the moment she returned to her room, hoping exhaustion would force her into sleep. It never came. Instead, her mind wandered in endless circles. Dr. Elias' questions. Jonas' confrontation. The strange changes in her blood. And, despite every effort to stop herself. Husen. She turned onto her side with an irritated sigh. "Enough..." The room answered only with silence. She knew she wouldn't sleep. If she remained here, her thoughts would only grow louder. Then another thought surfaced. The files. Project Crimson Hunger.
