"Grandpa, I…" Before Axel could say a thing, Eric's fist slammed against his face. Sending his body straight across the floor."Father!" Flora gasped. Her hands outstretched, wanting to reach for Axel but Donald's arms wrapped around her waist, holding her back as he shook his head."Are you happy now?" Eric growled, chest rising and falling in fury. His eyes brimming red with anger as he watched Axel scramble on the floor. Blood pooling from his nostrils."Answer me!" He fired, striding closer to Axel and in an instant, landing another blow to his face.I gasped.I've heard tales about Eric… the mighty alpha king who was slow to anger but when angered was like a beast. I never got to experience it first hand; he's always been the sweet yet strict grandpa I grew to love. But seeing him in his suit, grey hair falling over his face, landing forceful punches to Axel made me realise the tales were all true."Father, it's enough." Dane gently went behind Eric, holding his shoulders with hi

"In a rush?" Julie sneered, forcefully letting go of my arms as I staggered against the elevator walls.Jayne stood by a corner, eyes burning deep into me with her arms folded."I don't have time for this." I sighed, reaching to press the elevator buttons but Julie blocked me. Raging. The elevator lurched. My heart dropped.Memories from the incident at Axel's office played in my mind.My head spun but I swallowed."You think I want to be here either?" Julie yelled, grabbing my face tightly as she forced me to face her.My brows furrowed, rage simmering in me.But the more the elevator jolted, my heart raced.Fear crept into me.Fuck! Not here and definitely not now.Why won't they let me be?"Julie, let go of me!" I snapped, removing her grip from my face as I turned away. But Julie wasn't backing down, she was there solely for one purpose. She forcefully turned me again. "Are you even aware of what you've done?" She yelled.I sighed, my eyes landing on her tight grip on my arm.But

My heart raced, pounding against my chest as Dane closed the elevator doors behind him.His face still void of emotions, his eyes burning deep into my soul.In a heartbeat, he took a step closer.I gulped, taking a step back until my back was now against the cold metal walls of the elevator.Panic settled in me. Tears streaming down my face. Why wasn't he saying anything? Was he suddenly baffled to see a female wolf shifting?Turning into a monster?Did it bother him that Tyson had to see it as well?Thoughts raced through my mind as Dane's steps grew closer, his scent suffocating until he was only an inch away from me."Please…" The word fell from trembling lips. "I'm sorry."I apologised. Was it because I shifted?Because I was a monster?Or because it was a taboo?I wasn't sure. But at that point, the silence from Dane was too much to bear. His lingering gaze unpredictable.Could he have trained me thinking it was impossible? That I'd never actually shift? And now that I had, I was

Trevor's mind was fixed. He left no room for mourning. He wanted nothing more than to desperately erase her just as quickly.I sat on the chair; my gaze fixed on the gloomy sky.The elders all wore black. They circled the pile of sticks multiple times before stopping.I heaved. The thought of Bridget under the white cloth on the pile caused bile to rise. But I swallowed. The bitter taste lingered.Never would I have imagined a day like this would come. So sudden. And I could do nothing but sit still, wearing black.Nothing I'd do will bring her back from the dead."She's about to cross to a better place." An elder spoke. My shoulders jerked.Better place my fucking ass.Her better place should've been here with me, away from Trevor. Her better place was OUR plan to travel the world together once my finances were finally stable. We had dreams of a better place… not this.My skin pricked. The elders mumbled some more incantations before blazing the sticks with a torch.I looked away as

"Uncle Dane…" Charlotte froze. So did Axel.He tried to mask it under an arrogant smile, but the sweet stench of his fear couldn't be hidden."Eric made it clear to you, didn't he?" Dane spoke."What rule states that I can't visit my ex anymore?" Axel growled.Dane casually glanced at him, as if at a hopping ant, and exhaled. "No rules, but you're here as a Davenport."Axel's fists tightened beside him, eyes bulging and jaw clenching hard that I thought they might crack. Finally, he huffed. "I guess I have to leave if that's what grandpa wants."Axel grabbed Charlotte's hands, locking them with his as his eyes remained on mine.If he thought that sight would cause any pain to me then he must've been mistaken. He turned to leave. Leaving just Dane and me.His scent seeping through my nostrils, finding its way to the innermost part of me. Soothing."How are you?" His voice was softer as he gazed down at me. Holding tightly to the sunflower in his hand."Fine." My voice was flat. Avoidin
