Julia's POV "Mom, tell me you're joking." The words left my mouth before I could stop them. I stood frozen in the middle of our small apartment kitchen, staring at the diamond ring sparkling on my mother's finger. The ring looked expensive. Very expensive. The kind of ring normal people only saw in movies. Unfortunately, my mother wasn't laughing. She wasn't smiling either. Instead, she looked nervous. And that made my stomach twist.
