The tiny skates scraped the ice and the whole world seemed to hold its breath as the grandchildren took their first wobbly steps. "Look at them go," Kane said, voice catching a bit as he stood by the boards with Elias. "Little Jake and Mia out there like they own the place already. My heart is racing faster than theirs."
