Bella’s POVAs soon as I got home, I dropped my bags and slumped onto the bed. The look on my mother’s face when she saw me standing there with all my luggage… she must have been wondering why I was back. My mother has never stopped reminding me that I’m almost thirty, that she has already started fixing me up on dates.I sighed deeply. Coming back to this place made me sad because I knew my mother wouldn’t let me rest when it came to the topic of marriage. But at least being here meant I would be far away from Leo. I told myself this was my chance to forget him. To move on.Being home, I missed home and my mother’s food, but as I lay down in that bed thinking that I was going to forget Leo as instantly as I entered this place, right here in my room I was remembering those beautiful moments we had together. I can’t believe that we are apart and I was not his.“Of course, Leo was every woman’s dream.” I just don’t know why I let go of such a wonderful man, considering the fact that he

Bella’s POVI had been scrolling through my phone when a job posting popped up. I tapped it to read the details. It was for a personal maid. I seriously needed a job, so I had to apply. I applied for it right away. I was so excited that I had finally found a job. It wasn’t a bad idea coming back to Novacrest after all. After I applied, I got a reply almost immediately. How was it so fast? They really needed this personal assistant. I was invited for an interview tomorrow. I was thrilled. Finally—I had been applying for jobs for so long, and none of them had invited me for an interview. This was the only one that did. I didn’t care if I was overqualified to become a personal maid. I didn’t care at all as long as this would give me some money. Right now, I sincerely didn’t have any money. Even with my college graduate certificate, I didn’t mind any job at all. I was willing to do anything. As I was thinking about it, there came a knock at my door. I slumped out of bed, walked to the doo

Bella’s Pov I sat down at the place where others were waiting. I twisted my fingers in my lap nervously, waiting for my own turn. I could feel my heart pounding so badly. The hall was too quiet, and that was what made my heart beat even faster. This place was so expensive for people like me. Even the air felt expensive. I had to behave myself as my eyes scanned the whole place.Every girl seated around me looked composed, confident, perfectly put together. Some scrolled through their phones calmly; others adjusted their dresses with effortless grace.Meanwhile, my heart was staging a full rebellion inside my chest. What exactly was I doing here? I thought for a while as I swallowed hard. The entrance door clicked open. A tall woman in a fitted black suit stepped into the hall. I wondered who she was. Could she be the interviewer? Instantly, the faint murmurs died. The room straightened as if controlled by a single invisible command. She looked so expensive. Could she be Mrs. Vanguard

Bella’s POVI had waited for him for so long, but he still wasn’t here. Where was he? I wondered what was keeping him. As my gaze fell on the clock hanging on the wall, it was 9:00 p.m., and he still wasn’t back. I couldn’t believe I had been patiently waiting to see Mr. Vanguard. I seriously wanted to see him, and the reason why I had been asked to wait—they didn’t tell me. I asked the guard, and they told me I had to hear it from Mr. Vanguard himself. If I didn’t seriously need the job, I would have been long gone. I didn’t understand a gentleman who would leave someone waiting for him like this.I paced the whole place, but there was no sign of him coming. I needed to go before my mother started calling again. Just then, my phone rang. I picked it up.“Hello, Mom,” I answered, but then I didn’t know what to say to her if she asked why I hadn’t come back home yet.“Bella, how did the interview go? Why haven’t you been home yet?” she asked. I knew that was exactly what she was going

Bella’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, sunlight pouring through the window blinded me. I bolted upright in bed, shocked to discover I had no clothes on. The duvet was my only cover, and Leo was gone. I had to get out of here before he returned. I couldn’t believe myself—how one single touch from him had made me lose control completely and utterly.I swore to myself that I would never come back here, never return to him. I couldn’t hold back whenever I was near him. I didn’t understand what hold he had over me, this crazy, overwhelming love that consumed me. My mind raced in confusion.I quietly gathered my clothes from the couch where they had been carefully folded, I quickly slipped them on and tiptoed toward the door. I prayed he wouldn’t notice my departure as I slipped into the hallway. My gaze landed on the burly security men stationed at the entrance. How was I supposed to convince these guards to let me leave without Leo finding out?The memory of how quickly I’d surrendered to him
