Lucia's POV Eleven years agoI made my way out of the basement slowly after my father showed his love for me.My clothes were torn, my eyes were bloodshot, my legs trembled, and blood bled between my legs; my throat was dry, and I felt like a fire was lit for every single one of my breaths.I couldn't talk; I screamed until the sound of my voice stopped, and the more I begged him to stop, the more he became ruthless.Because pain meant love, I had that thought swirling in my mind.“Pain meant love.”My father had said that to me; my mother said it to me; everyone in this house had educated me the only way they knew that love had to be toughLove had to be painful; everything that had occurred earlier with my father couldn't be anything apart from rightness, correction, discipline, and love.I held on to that because I had nowhere else to go.I trudged a few steps towards my room, my eyes fixated on the floor while I moved. My fingers were okay with the frayed edges of my torn T-shirt

Lucia's POV I shot up from the bed in a sweat, my chest heaving. The only thing I heard beating wildly against my chest wasn't my heart. A few seconds, and frankly the rest of the minutes, were lost to me until the words. The dream- I hadn't dreamed about the past in a very long time. What was so special about tonight that I had to remember my past?I looked down at my stomach and unconsciously placed my hand and rubbed it as if expecting something to pop out.My eyes closed, and I took a breath, making sure it didn't shatter through my chest.I never want to dream of my past ever again, and I hope this comes true.I always start with confidence, but I never once believe in myself. I pushed the blanket back and slid out of bed onto the cold marble floor.I flipped the light on and looked at the clock that was sitting above my vanity: 7:00 pm.My eyes shot open; dinner.I needed to start cooking. Thankfully, I had woken up in time.I quickly ran into the bathroom and took a very fast

Lucia's POV I hid the piece of glass in my hand behind my back as I pressed myself against the wall, watching as the handle was pressed, then the door opened.A man stepped inside and shut the door behind him. His gaze went all over me. There was something in his eyes that made my stomach clench up.“Seems like we'll be stuck here together tonight.” He smirked. My fingers tightened around the glass. He began walking towards me, and I backed away. One step forward, two steps backMy lips parted; I wanted to scream, and I wanted him to get far away from me. I wanted someone–anyone–to hear me, but my voice was gone.“Come here, darling.” I shook my head, and he kept walking towards me.“I said come here, you slut.” He yelled, and my back hit the wall. There was nowhere left to go.My whole body froze, and the room began to blur. His eyes became Giovanni's, his face, Giovanni's, his footsteps, Giovanni's, his voice, Giovanni's.I couldn't see the man in front of me. All I could see was G

Lucia's POV I walked closer and closer to the main road. The passing cars’ horns blared, cutting through the sound of the heavy rain.I stopped, then stood unmoving.I stared at the road directly before me, and in the corner of my mind–a small sliver of hope–I wished that someone wouldn't see me, and still a part of me hoped that someone would.I simply didn't have the energy to care any longer. Then I heard a truck horn, and it was loud, and it was getting closer and closer.I looked up, and the truck was heading directly towards me, and I smiled. Finally, I closed my eyes and stood still and waited for my death to come. However, before anything happened, a hand gripped mine violently, pulling me back. I staggered and stumbled, landing with my entire weight against a body of muscle.I gasped, my eyes flying open. Damien. He was soaked from the rain, his chest rising and falling heavily. His face was twisted with anger.“Have you fucking lost your mind?” he roared, and I stared at h

Lucia's POV I slowly opened my eyes, my eyelids feeling heavy, as if glued shut by dried fluids and exhaustion. I felt drowsy, a thick, oppressive fog clinging to my consciousness, but beneath that fog was a physical agony I had never known. My body didn't just ache; it felt shattered. Every muscle was strained, my hips felt disconnected from my spine, and a deep, throbbing soreness radiated from my core, pulsing with every beat of my heart.I blinked, the blurred vision slowly sharpening. I was back in the servant quarters of Damien's mansion. The cold, sterile air of the room felt like a slap against my skin. Then, the memories hit me.It wasn't a gradual realization; it was a violent onslaught. I remembered the cold needle piercing my skin. I remembered the sudden, terrifying surge of heat—that artificial, chemical lust that had hijacked my brain and turned my body into a traitor. I remembered the sight of fifteen men, their faces twisted with malice and hunger, circling me lik
