Can I get one scoop of chocolate and one vanilla, please?” The ice cream server leaned forward, staring at me through the wide-rimmed glasses he wore. “Cone or cup?” Sam tugged at my hand. I looked down at him. “Okay, buddy,” I said. “Your choice?” “Cone, Mama,” he said, excitement lacing his voice. “Two cones,” I told the server. He flashed me a warm smile. “Any toppings?” “Sprinkles!” Sam yelled. I laughed. “Sprinkles on his, please. Nothing on mine.” “Here you go.” He handed me the two cones.
