Lyra’s POV I woke up to a mark carved into my neck. It was still fresh as though it had been carved only a few hours ago. The words echoed through my mind. “You’re mine.” The unfamiliar voice was low but firm like he was claiming something that had always belonged to him. Then came the sting of fangs against my neck, yet a moan of pleasure escaped from my lips instead. His cold gray eyes softened almost immediately— Then darkness. My eyes snapped open and my pulse hammered against my ribs. Those gray eyes… They were not my brother’s. Even now, I could almost remember his scent, it was unfamiliar. Why did I feel a questionable amount of pleasure? One I haven’t felt in my twenty years of living. I stared at the ceiling trying to put all the pieces together when the door opened. “You’re finally awake!” Elara pushed in and pulled me into a tight hug, “I— I thought I’d never get to see you again” her voice broke. “I’m fine sister” I struggled to break free from her

I sat facing the only window in the room. My feet bounced on the hard floor as I stared at the moon waiting for the right time to escape. When the coast was clear, I took the path towards the river. The rock laid just before the river and just like Elara had said, the bags were behind it. I took the bag to check for the spray wh

My heart hammered against my ribs as I stood in front of room 254. I had considered turning back a thousand times, but something kept pulling me back. Or someone. I brought my hand up to knock for what had to be the thousandth time in the twenty minutes I had stood there when the door suddenly opened. I jerked back, an awkward smile appearing on my lips.“Oh” surprise spread across his face, his eyes widening. “Uhmm” a second of awkward silence stretched between us “I came bearing wine” I raised the wine and immediately regretted how stupid I sounded. His gaze lifted to the bottle before returning to me.“Okay?” He sounded like he wasn’t sure what to think but he invited me in anyway. I steadied myself before walking in trying to keep my balance. “I figured I didn’t thank you for…” the minutes I had spent practicing what to say meant nothing the moment I turned around. He stood a few feet from me with a towel hanging low around his waist, his bare chest was still damp from the
