Tortured Soul

Deep into the woods stayed a small village. Almost known to be nameless if not for the oldies that told of the name it used to be called. 

The truth is indeed that this place used to be a cheerful and happy one. 

At least not until he was born. 

A demon coming into the world in the form of man. 

But I dare not reveal too much at the first chapter because it might leave you with nothing but nightmares. 

I'll go slow and you know what your part is in this book? Try not to chicken out and read till the end. 

You'd think I'm joking about this but keep reading if your curiously drives you to do so. First few chapters might be a breeze but what happens after that is a mystery. 

The identity of the unknown will be revealed towards the end. It will shock you to know who has been behind this the entire time that had brought that demon into the earth. So you would want to stick around, I dare you. 

Peggy POV

I woke up I'm the morning with much energy than ever  before. 

Not only the pupils but also the teachers have to make it early to school. 

I washed my face outside in the river some distance away from my home. 

I returned into the house and then to the kitchen to start cooking. 

I heard footsteps going down the stairs and immediately knew it was my husband. 

"Good morning darling." I greeted him. 

"Good morning my love. What  are you making for breakfast?" He asked. 

"Oh the usual. Nothing new going on these days." I replied. 

He walked closer and put his arms around me from behind. 

"No matter how many times we eat the same thing for breakfast, your lovely hands keep making them taste unique." He said. 

"Fine fine Henry, I get it." I said with a shy smile. 

My husband's name is Henry.  

We had gotten married to each other six months ago. 

My husband has always be such a good person and had always shown me his love and care. 

I can't help but wonder how lucky I am to be his wife. 

My parents were the only ones who had disapproved of our marriage and they didn't even come for the ceremony. 

They hated my husband for being a lumberjack and had this crazy belief that lumberjacks are evil. 

Well, I loved my husband and I will stick to him till the very end.  And till now I have never regretted my decision. 

I may be living in an ancient looking house but it sure ain't no dump. 

Soon enough food was ready. 

I served my husband and then myself. 

"Is there a problem?" I asked, noticing he hadn't touched his food. 

"No never mind, I don't want to bother you. It's really nothing." He replied. 

"It's about the baby issue right?" I asked him. 

"It's been six months after our marriage but still nothing. People are already talking." He said. 

"I know that. But six months isn't a big deal. I don't know why this small town has its own weird beliefs." I said in response to my husband. 

"I know Peggy. But you also known how these people can be. If it takes any longer for us to get a child then they would look at us as outcasts." My husband explained. 

"This town is just so strange in every aspect. I don't know why you insisted we'd move to this place." I said to him. 

"What has been done has been done." He replied. 

"Well okay. We will try our luck tonight. But is it going to be in your room or in my room?" I asked him. 

"In your room of course." He replied. 

They want couples to get children as soon as those couples are married but they are against couples sleeping on the same bed at all. 

If a man and a woman has sex then the one who had left his or her room for the other would have to return to his or her room. 

It's no wonder everyone in this town only has one or two kids and that's all. 

"Sure, I guess maybe we would try out for a child tonight but I really don't see why we should make our plans according to what other people belief in and all." I complained to him. 

"Yes, I know. I don't like it either but you know we have to. That is, in order not to be the center of attention in this small town where everyone knows everyone." Henry said. 

"Okay, if you say so. Bye honey, I'm off now. I wouldn't want to be late to school." I said. 

"Have a wonderful day." He replied. 

I gave my husband a quick kiss on the cheek and exited the house. 

I exited the house and entered my old car. 

Starting up the car, I headed for the school which I taught in. 

A school which had also turned out to be the only school in this town. 

I guess no one wanted to waste their precious money and time on this place at all. 

It's also good, seeing that there are not much children in this place. 

As I continued to drive along the road, I looked through my window occasionally. 

It was a habit of mine for as long as I could remember.  

I had always enjoyed looking at the view through my car's window. 

Even if this small town looked creepy as the mind can imagine, I couldn't help but continue to look whenever my chance came. 

From gar off, I saw a little girl that looked the age of six, standing at the side of the road. Her feet were shielded by the grass which she stood in. 

This little girl had her hair all messed up and in her hand was a wooden doll. 

I decided within myself that as soon as I get to where she stood I would ask her what was wrong and why she stood there alone. 

To my great surprise, the closer I got to her and the more I looked that direction, she seemed nonexistent. 

What is this? Am I seeing things or my eyes are... 

I rubbed against me eyes just to be sure and when I looked again, this time there was nothing to look at. 

The little girl was gone.
