First Dragon: Blood Ties
Regardless, they were driven by almost a survival instinct to be complete - to become.
My mind wondered. I remembered that day, many centuries ago, when Amelia was born. Sahar was in labor for over 24 hours – even all the magic of this world could not make that easier. Using magic on a birthing mother or a newborn could be highly dangerous, and we took no chances. However, during the labor, she fell into a trance and recited a chilling prophecy of our daughter’s life and what was to become of a young princess. Prophecy foretold that she would be fated to a demon prince, but that the said prince would kill her and their children in the most gruesome way among other things. Sahar saw that Amelia's mate would be a man possessed, a man who would rip her heart out, a man who would slay his children in infancy while she watched. As if that were not enough, Sahar saw that Amelia would be the undoing of all the magic on Earth, all our species would be extinct because of her.. Only Mother and we knew of this prophecy. I was the only one in the room during the delivery, as I ordered everybody out when I saw Sahar fall
into a trance. I had a foreboding sense and while I knew I was risking her life, she insisted I was the only one present. We both feared if the prophecy fell into the wrong hands I would have to kill them all. So, it was only me, welcoming my child and supporting my wife, while she struggled immensely.
