Just a tiny red light on the corner, blinking slowly like a heartbeat. *Blink.* *Blink.* *Blink.* A timer. Wired straight to a block of dark grey clay wrapped in thick plastic. A literal, actual bomb. My brain just went totally blank. I couldn't even scream if I wanted to. The digital readout on the side was counting down from **03:45:00**.

“This is deadly. The timer... once it hits zero, the bottle will break, releasing the gas. And anyone within the area... won’t survive.” My blood ran cold. The guy’s words echoed in my head as I tried to make sense of the situation. "You’ve got a little more than hours," he said, glancing at the vial. "Maybe an hour... but it’s more like thirty-five minutes." My stomach churned. Thirty-five minutes? That wasn’t nearly enough time. Not for what I needed to do, not for what we had to stop. I stood there, frozen for a second. “My father.”

A statue of a white wolf, with prominent blue eyes was built up at the pinnacle and below it was a large clock, ticking away. This was the clock. I rushed up the aisle, stepping onto the altar as I stood before the clock to see clearly. Then I realized that this clock was different from the usual ones we knew. Its values were a six hour interval where the seconds value was supposed to be. And a twenty-four hour interval for where the hours were supposed to be. What day is twelve o'clock? Twelve o'clock? Oh. She was talking about the northern cardinal. "Thursday." And where is the hour hand?

She hands it to me with an excited grin. "Here! This is for you." I take the bag, surprised again. "Tiff, you didn’t have to…" I start, but she just waves off my protest. I open it, only to find a padded box inside. I lift the lid, only to find a beautiful hourglass inside mounted on a thin golden stand. The sand inside shimmers, and I realize it’s filled with tiny shells, each one delicate and perfectly formed. It’s stunning. "Do you like it?" Tiffany asks, her eyes sparkling as she watches my reaction.

I scrub them with soap until they are pink. I look at the timer on my phone. 2:59. Three minutes. One hundred and eighty seconds. I cannot look at the sticks. If I look at them before the time is up, I will panic. I will vomit again. I turn my back on the sink. I look at the floor. The tiles are white squares with grey grout. They are chipped in the corners. There is a hair trapped in the sealant near the door. I start counting. One tile. Two tiles. Three tiles.

I then wipe it down and opening the pouch carefully pour the Moon Dust into the now empty hourglass.

Louis had his brows furrowed for a while as he stared at me, then back at Ivy and Liora who had walked down the hall and taken a left. Then his eyes widened like he had picked up. “Of course, time is of the essence.” I looked down at the wrist watch Louis had given me and we had spent thirty minutes already. Four hours, twenty-nine minutes left. It was written boldly on the watch screen.

The bottle was empty. " It'll take at least one hour and it's 12: 30 " A soft emotion passed over his chisel face in worry. " Are you thirsty? " She just nodded, sinking back into the seat and wrapping her arms over her body beneath her huge hijab. It was cold. Terribly cold, her hijab was huge but not thick to prevent the icy breeze from passing through her body and freezing her blood.
