25min Timer Novels & Stories

Micah's panicked voice echoed through the speaker. Dante swiftly typed on the computer, and a shared screen appeared. A gasp escaped my lips as I stumbled backwards, my eyes fixed on the screen. There it was—a timer, its numbers ticking away ominously. My heart pounded in my chest as I realized the gravity of the situation. The timer displayed one hour and forty-seven minutes. Were the bombs already placed? The thought sent a chill down my spine, and I felt a sense of urgency gripping me like a vice. “I can’t leave Silvio here.” I shook my head as Dante looked pleadingly at him.

Holding my breath, I silently prayed I was making the correct choice as I quickly cut the wire. The numbers on the timer flashed and I thought it was going to count down, but then it simply started flashing the number two. I stared at the timer waiting for it to count down, but it didn’t. A moment later, it turned off and all the lights above and below the bomb stopped.

“How long do you think you can last?” She considered his question, “Uh, half an hour?” She’s not sure, but she felt that half an hour wouldn’t be too embarrassing. “Let’s try fifteen minutes, then. Watch your breathing and control it well. Tell me if you’re starting, I’ll start the timer.” “Alright. I’ll begin.” She didn’t want to dally. The sun is setting and it will soon turn dark.

But…it was a new sound. Beeping. Which it hasn't been doing before. I looked up instantly, realizing how the screen had changed….to a freaking countdown. “...What is that?” Alexei asked. The chairman’s face darkened. “The launch sequence.” My stomach dropped as more numbers started flashing across the place. 02:00 Two minutes. “That’s not enough time,” I snapped. Brielle's grip tightened almost immediately on my arm as she groaned out, “Almost—” The machine flared brighter, as if in confirmation.

“Fourteen minutes?” “No,” Ines whispered. “Fourteen hours. Twenty-two minutes.” Varian straightened. Liora exhaled. She whispered, “Edda’s counting down.” Varian answered: “Then so are we.”
