And he had somewhere under forty-six hours now, on a timer set by a man who had not asked nicely. "I'm listening," he said.

The recording timer stretched across the screen. 14 HOURS 07 MINUTES. A storage warning flashed repeatedly at the top. My breathing slowed. And suddenly, I remembered. I set it up before the knock. My thumb hovered over the screen slowly. If it had been recording this entire time, then it recorded last night.

Her voice trembled slightly. "You need to get out of there." Alexander replied calmly, "I’m working on it." Sophia listened to the conversation with mild amusement. "You really think you have time?" Alexander looked at her. "How long?" Sophia smiled. "I thought you’d ask." She pressed another button on the remote. A timer suddenly appeared on the small screen near the wall. 10:00 Ryan stared at it. "Ten minutes?" Sophia nodded. "Exactly." Alexander didn’t react. Instead he looked at Ryan.

she grins. " Your first task is this, there is a timer on the gun facing Fatso over there, I bet you'll try to save him but I advise you don't. The door behind you is locked and there are guns in the walls. You have five seconds, there is a button under his seat, but if you move him, all the guns go off. I don't know how you're gonna get out now, but you must. You have 48 hours and your time starts now, tik tok tik tok" She smiled and the hologram retreated back to its pod.

It’s the right time, and I still have the termination meds with me. Biting my lip, I unpack the box, pee on the stick, and read the instructions; it makes the waiting time seem shorter that way. Five minutes. “Five? Isn’t that too much?”

"He is the worst. He is so bad I can't even find a way to let him win." Jinx settled in for a long game. "I'm kind of intrigued. So we need to think fast or our move is lost. That could get very brutal. Does the timer speed up as we go or is it one certain amount of time?" Wound took a sip of his tea as the board flipped over before Jinx could make a first move on the new board. "Oh, now you want to ask questions. Interesting. The timer has a mind of its own. There is no rhyme or reason. You might have ten minutes and you might ten seconds." Wound took his second turn since Jinx lost his and scored a hundred points.

"What is the difference five minutes gonna do? Feed me woman!" "If you don't shut up Blake this 5 minutes will increase to 15 minutes. Try me." Cara cooly said to Blake. I can hear Gideon snickering. "Five minutes babe. Yup copy. Actually James is the one who is hungry but I told him you are relaxing. This guy is impatient." Blake explained. I can hear a "ow!" And "what the fudge!" I bet Gideon hit Blake on the head. As promised after 5 minutes we rewash our

Nicole jolted, then immediately checked with her mind. The storage space was still there. The supplies were still there, too. She tested it; she thought of an item, and a coal briquette appeared in her hand. Sweeping the space again, she noticed the glowing timer had reset to zero. That was when it clicked. The storage space only allowed two hours inside at a time. Two hours… Fine. Better than nothing. After showering, it was already past midnight.

“It’s cute, huh?" Then I caught Valen’s gaze with concern written on his face and a sad grimace. “We can win this and get the hell out of here.” Valen muttered to me, our mind-link seemed disabled. I wished I could believe him, so I did not respond. Being closer to him would have helped more. A timer appeared above her head with four silver zeroes. After that, it changed with digital counting sound effects to reflect three minutes and thirty-four seconds. “Once the timer hits zero, you fail and will be eliminated. If you fall, the river of molten iron at the bottom awaits your death.” Gracefully lifting her right arm in arabesque, she persisted cheerfully. “Let us begin.”

There’s an incubation time” replied Hyeon while check his flask and stopwatch again. “You have been saying it for past 8 minutes” said Min Ji in a frustrated tone. “Is it my fault that the incubation time is of 10 minutes then?” asked Hyeon annoyedly. “Why everyone is titrating and we just incubating? Why were they faster than us?” asked Min Ji in an agitated tone.
