Day 2: Eggs again, overcooked and rubbery. Eggs for breakfast and eggs for lunch. The maids giggled sarcastically while I ate them. Sure, they thought this was funny. Eden, locked up and forced to eat eggs all day. Well, I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of seeing me suffer. I ate the eggs with a smile. And guess what? I found a book! It was under the bed. It must have been kicked under there and forgotten about. It was a historical romance, too. What fun! See. I could pass the time easily. Now that I had something to read, the time would fly by! Day 3:

Lyra’s POV Papa frowned. “You're talking as if we sent you somewhere terrible. Your brother and I paid extra to make sure the doctors looked after you. You had a roof over your head, meals brought to you every day, and people taking care of your needs. For all intents and purposes, it was practically a resort. I honestly don't understand what you're so upset about.” I stood so abruptly that my chair scraped violently across the floor. “Vacation?” My voice cracked. “Vacation?”
