I smacked him again. "Stop acting. I know we're thinking the same thing about her," I said, and he didn't respond but turned his back on me. "I'm just wondering, what if she discovered the truth? I'm terrified," I said, looking at my twin for a response, but he appeared to be thinking the same thing. She's been here for four months and hasn't noticed anything about the other maids, who are our previous maids who we got bored with and killed. We're vampires; it's only natural for us purebloods to kill humans because they're nothing more than food containers for us.

I will give him more than he bargains for. I go to my new home, a plain suburban affair. It is furnished. Quickly, not breaking a sweat, I move most of the furniture into the garage. Then I retire to the master bedroom, draw all the shades, and lie down on the hard wooden floor and close my eyes. The sun has drained my strength, I tell myself. But as I doze off I know it is also the people I have met this day that have cut deep into me, where my iron blood flows like a black river over the cold dust of forgotten ages, dripping onto this green world, onto the present, like the curse of the Lord himself. I hope to dream of Krishna as I fall asleep, but I do not. The devil is there instead. Yak

“That makes three this month.” “Four,” I correct. His eyebrows lift slightly. “When did the fourth happen?” “Tonight.” For a few seconds he says nothing. The political implications of that number settle between us. Our alliance with the vampires is not built on friendship. It is built on stability. On predictable leadership and carefully negotiated trade agreements that benefit both sides. If their hierarchy starts collapsing from internal conflict, those agreements will collapse with it. “And you think the rogues are responsible?” Derrick asks. “They’re the most likely explanation.”

“Life is not useless, and that is what provides substance to you. You should be careful who you prey on. I am Dominic, and I have been around for over 700 years now. I would expect you to know your elders and respect the laws of the Royals Pure-Blood Vampires, do you not?” “My name is Mara, sweetheart. Well, you are ancient aren’t you. No, I do not know who you are, and we don’t run under the Royals Pure-Blooded rules. We are the head of the Armageddon’s, and we make our rules. We have this territory, and we plan to completely take this whole country when we are done. I suggest you either join or leave. Either way, you are terribly outnumbered, Dom.” Laced with a sweet but with a power autho

She paced calmly inside the bedroom while resuming her story. ‘Vampires are not turned. We are born like this. There are eighteen years for us to be at peace with the idea of being immortal. Our bodies protect themselves by not feeling any pain, and healing fast for those eighteen years. We are just like every human being inside but our blood and our nerve system defines our species. Our blood has what humans like to call as fast metabolism, and the absence of pain, they gave it a name, as if it was a disease. But that is not the truth. Between the ages of seventeen and eighteen, one must go through the Rite of Shadows to fully transform. We call it the Rite of Shadows because until you are

“Still worth it.” I took the cup. “You’re making moves,” he said, watching me. “I’m shuffling the board.” “And if the pieces don’t land the way you want?” I looked up. “Then I flip the table.” He grinned. “There’s the Noah I know.” We spent the better part of the afternoon in strategy. Maps. Contacts. Guard rotations. I brought up an old ally from the north, a vampire named Cassian who owed me more than a few favors. Isaac countered with a witch who used to date him. “She hates me,” he said. “But she hates Edward more.”

After finishing all the chores, Adrianna chose a silent place in the apartment to read the book. The moment she picked the book to read, she felt a sudden rush of adrenaline flowing in her body, as if the book itself wanted to be read. She opened the pages and began reading from the first article about the vampires. Of course, they were actually undead and dependent on human blood for nutritional requirements. They have existed in the world from thousands of years ago but no proof of their existence was ever recorded. The vampires are named by their ranks. The new vampires are called Fledglings, they could be upto twenty years or less. The term Neonate, representing the vampire age of fifty

Though he understood them keeping it from the masses, he was livid with his parents for not filling him in on this new development. Once a vampire left their realm their bodies would begin to transform from within, removing their ability to walk under the sun . Slowly they would lose their minds and they developed an insatiable thirst for blood and sex. After being told these stories as children, no one ever thought of going there. That's why it had come as a big surprise when Griff suggested sneaking outside the realm for a short holiday. The car came to a smooth halt and Xander noticed a lonesome, tiny, dilapidated cabin and immediately frowned. Why had they stopped here? Did he want to sh

With my friends in the next room, nobody to increase my esteem, I awaited my fate. Vampires started trooping in, their surreal bodies causing jaw drops mine included as they began moving around, their daylight ring glinting in the light. The daylight ring was what enabled them to walk out under the sun, the cost of one showed how high up you were in the vampires inner circle, and how rich you were. Some had been half vampires who had probably undergone the change, I thought as a few made their way to my stand. Placing an award winning smile on my face, I explained what my project was all about. Asking for a volunteer among the spectators, by now I had gathered a crowd, I placed his thumb on
