The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

Very important rule. God. Check Peanut before reporting missing items. Fair. The best rule so far. Reasonable honestly. Then Ava added another one. God. Rule #5. Fair. Never trust the cute face. Reasonable. The wisest rule so far. God. Then Peanut walked over. Fair. Looked at the poster. Reasonable. Thought for a moment. God. Then stole the marker. Fair. Right in front of everyone. Reasonable honestly. The audacity. God. Absolute audacity.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

BREAKING THE RULES

BREAKING THE RULES

"No one can know at work. Complete professionalism when we're in the office." "Agreed." "And if this starts affecting my job or your relationship with Anthony, we stop." I do not like that rule, but I understand it. "Agreed." "And Richard? I won't be your dirty secret. If this becomes something real, something serious, eventually we go public. I won't hide forever." "Deal." She smiles, and it transforms her entire face. "Then we have an agreement, Mister Westwood." I pull her against me, feeling her body melt into mine. "We do, Miss Hart."

The Rule

The Rule

She smirked at his silence—until, after a beat, he leaned closer, voice low, “And the same way my mouth made you stammer, didn’t it?” Her eyes widened, her lips parted, and before she could speak, he leaned back with effortless grace. Her cheeks warmed, her ears burned crimson. He saw it all. And he chuckled, quiet and deep, a sound only for himself. --- The fifth day finally dawned, ushering in the last and grandest of the tournament games. The air itself seemed to tremble with anticipation. These contests were reserved for the fiercest and most skilled— for the prizes were magnificent, and the honor greater still. To fight here was not merely to win a crown of glory; it was to carve one’s

BURNING WITH THE MAFIA PRINCE

BURNING WITH THE MAFIA PRINCE

"I'm not asking you to be a puppet. I'm asking you to be strategic." I thought about staying alive long enough to get Annabelle through this year safely. "Okay. Rule four, public unity." "Good." He set down the pen. Moved closer. Close enough that I could smell cedar and smoke. Close enough that I had to tilt my head back to meet his eyes. "Now we get to the important one. Rule five." Something in his tone made my pulse quicken. "Rule five is non-negotiable," he said quietly. "And it applies starting tonight."

Considerably Wicked

Considerably Wicked

It was obvious that whatever the fifth rule was, it was the one thing that she didn’t want to be crossed the most. “Ms. Miller?” he prompted. Una clasped her fingers together, trying to calm the shaking that had quickly taken over her hands. Her head hung low as terrifying memories drifted through her mind. Was she like this when she told her previous tenants about her house rules? Will thought. “Ms. Miller…” he called to her again, softer this time. “What’s the fifth rule?” “Never ever turn the lights off at night.” Una’s bottom lip quivered with every word that left her lips. “The front porch light, the living room, and the kitchen. That’s nonnegotiable.”

The Fifth Candle

The Fifth Candle

Did my parents adore Julian that much? Not really. In the five years of our marriage, he had only met them a handful of times. The reason they treated him so warmly was simple—because I loved him. Every time they complained, I would smile and say, "Mom, Dad, Julian's really busy. He genuinely can't find time to come back with me. So, you're not allowed to be mad at him, okay?" For five years, I waited for Julian to learn how to treat me well. At this moment, I understood. It was not that he did not know how. He simply had not cared enough to do it.

TILL I MET HIM

TILL I MET HIM

Was it clear that I was freaking out? "Excellent work on today's files you're a quick learner and very creative I like that Ms. Young." "Thank you sir" I murmur. He remained silent, his index finger tapping on the desk mirroring my reactions and slow movements. "But keep in mind that my company has five rules that must be taken seriously." 1. No sex in the work place. 2. No lovey dovey stuff. 3. No laziness. 4. Always meeting deadlines. 5. Think outside the box.

Fifth Time, Final Goodbye

Fifth Time, Final Goodbye

He was off on a film set with Renee. She'd called him, desperate, telling him she felt awful. His response? The same as always. "Wait for me. I'll be back soon." He didn't come back until the fever had already broken. It was always like that. Broken promises, over and over, until all the letdowns blurred together. After one brutal fight, he swore he'd change. Promised he wouldn't leave her for Renee again. She'd given him five chances. This was the fifth.

Five Years Too Late

Five Years Too Late

Five years of marriage. Then I saw his post. “Happy fifth anniversary to my beautiful wife. Five years with you still feels like the beginning.”I smiled without even realizing it. Today is going to be a good day,I told myself. Damian and I had been married for five years. Five years of loving him, adjusting to him, building a life around him. He had been away on a business trip for months now, and I had been counting down the days to this one. He promised he would be available just this day and I believed him.
