I had my life back, piece by piece. The door opened again, more firmly this time, and Richard stepped inside. His expression softened when he saw I was awake. Without saying a word, he crossed the room, slid an arm under my shoulder, and helped me sit up properly. I leaned back against the headboard, letting my body relax while my mind kept racing. It felt like I had just woken up from a two-year coma. “How long have I been out?” I asked quietly, my voice still scratchy from sleep.

I told her with a smirk. "What on earth are you talking about?" she demanded. "Levi just woke up after spending seven years in a coma," I announced, and she looked utterly shocked. "Levi!" she gasped.

He’d said, “My son will wake up. I don’t care how long it takes.” And he was right. “Ho… how old am I?” the boy asked softly, voice trembling. I smiled faintly, keeping my tone gentle. “You’re nineteen.” His brows furrowed, confusion clouding his face. “You’re wondering why you look younger, right?” I asked, already anticipating the question. “That’s because you had an accident when you were ten. You’ve been in a coma for nine years. Your body stopped growing at ten.” I tried to explain it in a way he could understand, though I doubted he truly could. To him, this must feel like waking up in another lifetime.

I wondered where my teammates were. “Who are you?” My voice became rougher and deeper. He chuckled. “I’ve never thought this would be how we would meet each other again. You grew up.” He removed the hood and I almost crawled away. It was impossible for this man to stay alive. Everyone said he was dead. I remembered seeing him dead. “I know what you’ll say, that I was dead. I thought so too, until I woke up three years ago from my coma induced state. Sorry for taking this long to find you.”

* * * Eve’s POV * * * * * * Aged 10 * * * I wake up and rub the sleep from my eyes, my body is programmed to wake at this time now. A year of waking up at the crack of dawn and I no longer need an alarm, or for Rose to knock on my door.

“It’s 2025.” Her lips parted. “What?” “You heard me.” She blinked rapidly, shaking her head, her voice a whisper of disbelief. “Are you trying to tell me I’ve been in a coma for seven years?” “No.” I stopped a few feet away, my gaze hard. “You weren’t in a coma. But a lot happened in those years. More than you remember. More than you want to believe.” Then I went ahead to tell her exactly what happened.

March 23rd 2273 Today, I woke up. It felt like barely a moment had gone by since I was frozen, but apparently it was over two-hundred and fifty years. Two-hundred and fifty years since I'd said goodbye to my husband and son. Now I was sat in a small room, dressed in a skin-tight leotard that somehow kept me warm despite being thin as paper. Now I had to try and adapt. I woke up only half an hour ago. Apparently I’d been in surgery for several days, but I’d been woken slowly, my body now perfectly healed.
