I felt relieved, knowing that I had someone by my side who truly cared. When I finally woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, indicating that it was already noon. Richard was nowhere to be seen, and it seemed he had woken up before me. I couldn't recall the last time I had slept in so late. Feeling parched from all the crying, I made my way to the kitchen, hoping to grab something to drink.

I wake up the next morning, shocked that I slept so well. It’s been a long time since I haven’t woken up listening for someone to bang on my door in the middle of the night or try to break in to get us. At first when I wake, I’m completely disoriented. It takes me a moment to remember everything that happened yesterday. Has it really only been one day? I can’t believe that less than 24 hours ago, I was putting Meadow and Tate on a bus. It feels like I lived a week in the last day.

FAYE I woke up the next day with a satisfied grin on my face. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was a quarter past seven. I sat up in a rush, a little dizzy spell coming over me, but I shook it off. I was alone in the room. Nathan was always up and out really early. Heat rushed to my face when I remembered what had happened last night. I smiled regardless and stood up, almost doing a little dance in excitement.

I thought you needed it.” Groaning, I work to pry my eyes open. I squinted with one eye as the other stayed closed and squished my nose in disapproval of being woken up. There’s no way an hour, and a half had passed. “What time is it?” I asked, yawning and stretching out my arm. “It’s after one.”

He said to me and there was so much nervousness in his voice “Why would I forget the lunch when it's still morning” I said in a hoarse voice “Morning? Don't tell me you're just waking up now? My dream was empty and I kept drifting in and out of consciousness while voices surrounded me. I had no idea how long this went for, but suddenly, I decided that this had to stop and I had to wake up. So my eyes flew open and I sat up instantly. That was when I met the beautiful man sitting on the edge of the bed. His eyes grew wide as he took in my stare. "You're finally awake," he whispered. I blinked twice and looked away instantly. "Why? How long was I out?" "A week," he muttered as if it was a casual thing to say.

Then I heard footsteps and a gentle voice. “Hi ma’am, you’re finally awake.” I turned slightly. The doctor smiled like he didn’t just see someone whose heart had shattered hours ago. “Good evening,” I murmured, wiping my cheek. “How long have I been here?” “Four hours.” Four hours unconscious. For four hours my soul floated somewhere dark and peaceful. Four hours I wished I had never woke up. “Who brought me?” I asked quietly. “A group of your pack members,” he said, checking my chart.

“Sorry I’m late.” I tried to stand and my legs gave out. I caught myself on the bench, my hands gripping the wood so hard I heard it creak. “You’re awake.” The words came out choked. “You’re actually awake.” “I’m awake.” She took a step toward me, and I saw how unsteady she was. How much effort each movement took. “I heard I’ve been asleep for a while.” “A year.” I couldn’t stop staring at her. Couldn’t believe she was real. “You’ve been asleep for a year.”
