The silver in my veins didn't feel like a disease; it felt like mercury—heavy, cold, and blindingly fast. I watched, paralyzed, as the frost climbed toward my throat. He lunged for the woman in the emerald coat, his fingers curling into claws, but he collapsed before he could touch her.
