I don't know why, but I'm really engrossed in reading mystery books especially when I could always figure out who the suspect is before the detective could even tell who it was in the end. I traced my fingers at the leaves of the books that are stored in the bookshelves as I read their titles until I came across a book which made me curious of it's title. It was called Isoria with a fantasy like book cover with golden specks laid across it. I then knew that it's a book I will never regret reading. I was tempted to buy at least two or more books. I saw a lot of books that I want to read, but I don't want to abuse my mom's kindness. I wasn't supposed to be allowed to buy any book right now.

She wasn't trying to make an effort to look good, it doesn't matter anymore. She moved slowly, like her body was conserving whatever little energy her heart had left. On the bedside table sat the books she’d bought earlier. She reached for The Da Vinci Code, the familiar weight of it grounding her. Dan Brown had always had a hold on her. This would be her second time reading this particular book, and for some reason she was excited to just get lost in this book. A world where puzzles mattered more than people’s intentions. She climbed onto the bed, propped her back against the headboard, and began to read.

Her curiosity about the writer behind such a captivating book was driving her crazy, but no matter how hard she scoured, she still found next to nothing. Determined, she bit the bullet and decided to read the author's other two mystery novels, even though she didn't expect much. They were written over a decade ago, after all, and were probably outdated. To her surprise, she got hooked again! She was furious and amazed at the same time! Over the course of a week, she devoured all of Mindy's novels. Apart from that one cheesy youth romance novel that was awful, every other mystery thriller was more gripping than the last.

"I know a place not far from here. It's an old bookstore. The owner, Mrs. Jenkins, is a friend. She might be able to help us. "I'll check in with some of my contacts," Julian said. "See if they've heard anything about Alex or the organization." Emma nodded. "I'll go to the bookstore and see if Mrs. Jenkins can help us. Meet you back here in a few hours?" Julian nodded, and they exchanged a brief, worried glance before parting ways. As Emma walked to the bookstore, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She quickened her pace, her senses on high alert.

I can feel a shiver run down my spine as I gulp. Something is weird about the atmosphere... how come everyone suddenly disappears? I slowly swallow the candy that was sitting in my mouth. It was a soft candy, so it didn't hurt my throat. Clenching the handle of my bag tightly, I try to walk as normally as I could master. *Bathump! Bathump!* Calm down... there must be a reasonable explanation why this happened, right? A shadow shape of a person appeared behind me. The more I try to walk faster, the more it follows me. Turning around to the different alleyway, I tried to lose the shadow. Since I wasn't paying attention to where I'm heading, I ended up walking to a dead end.
