I'm alone with more knowledge than I ever dreamed of having and for the first time since arriving at Nightfall Keep, I can breathe. I spend hours exploring, running my fingers along leather spines and pulling down volumes at random. There are histories of the Lycan territories, texts on magic theory, and bestiaries describing creatures I didn't know existed. On the second floor, tucked in a corner behind several other books, I find something that makes me freeze. A small leather-bound volume with no title on the spine, but when I pull it out, the cover reads in silver ink: "The Celestial Wolves: Last of the Moon Goddess's Children."

Maybe that’s how I would understand Erik better. Looking around, I noticed that the books of my interest were somewhere on the top shelves. Okay, how would I reach them now? With a ladder, of course. I glanced everywhere until I saw a ladder attached to the shelves. It was raised to the last one. It was huge, like the library. I dared and pulled it closer to me. I frowned and opened the book on the history of vampires, but when I opened it, I couldn’t read it. The script wasn’t of any language I had ever seen. The pages were much older than the book on the Moon Goddess. I turned it over to look at the back cover. There was no bar code there. There wasn’t one on the front cover, either.
