As I stared at the scenery of trees and stones with my chin resting on my palm, I moved my elbow a little on the window frame due to how it is gradually numbing my arm. I have been in this position for so long, I can’t stand it. In instinct, I took a peep by the corner of my eye to see her dressed in a thin summer blue dress, reading at the other corner. “Would you quit stealing glances already, it’s disgusting you know?” She impassively uttered without leaving her gaze from the book she’s reading.

In the international airport of Lochapple, the flight to Granada, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, was just about to take off. As the plane took off, she raised her wrist and looked at the time. She closed her eyes for a moment. After the plane took off completely and flew smoothly, she opened her eyes and began to read every word in the book. A dozen or so hours later, when the plane safely landed, she slammed the book shut and walked down from the plane with slightly red and swollen eyes.

Swallowing down my nerves, I head to the front door and knock. I don’t know if I’m supposed to wait for her to come answer me, but I push the door open myself when I wait for a few seconds. It’s unlocked. Light filters into the living room from the open windows, and the flat TV screen is on but playing without sound. On the sofa, a woman who seems to be in her eighties is lying down holding up a book that covers her face. With everything I imagined, I didn’t think I would see Lily Anderson reading…a novel.

" Ruth?" I was so startled that an old book fell right out of my hand on the floor with a sudden thudding noise which echoed through the whole room . I looked back at once and saw someone sitting on a sofa at the corner of the room . I was wondering why I didn't notice her earlier as I talked slow by slow towards her . I saw an old lady reading one of these heavy books . She had glasses on and was looking at me directly over it. I could see that she was old enough but somehow her age wasn't showing through her appearance. She had sharp witty eyes as she was looking directly into me .

She paused at a nearby reading table, resting her palms on the gleaming wooden surface to slow her breath. A few young ladies walked past, books in their arms, whispering with little smiles. "Did you see that gentleman? The blind one?" the taller of the two ladies asked her friend.

The lady glared at Kahuna before walking out of Liam's office. Kahuna stared at the drink and she didn't feel like tasting it. Who knows what that damned Shirley girl could have put in the drink? Forget it. She stood up and began looking around Liam's office. It was just so simple. His working table was arranged neatly without a spec if dust. She walked to the bookshelf at one side of the wall. She trier to see if there's a book she could read. Her slender finger trailed across the books before finally stopping on a red hard cover book. Her hand shook as she reached out to it.

like a big deal, I noted reading through so interesting titles, but not the specific one I was looking for. I swooped through the titles vainly searching for the one book I needed, to no avail. I groaned turning around, leaning on a shelf. I watched as a woman came into the row with a bunch of books in her arms and started packing them. A librarian. Bingo. I walked towards her, tapping her on the shoulder, "excuse me miss," She turned towards me, pushing her glasses down. She looked a little over forty, with hints of wrinkles but luscious brown hair pulled up in a bun. She wore a plain grey dress that went a little way past her knees.

There are three of us jammed into the carriage. I share my seat with the new servant, the Luna across from us with the largest seat to herself. A book balanced in her hand she casually reads slowly turning the pages. Her focus is entirely on the book, her intense staring only randomly interrupted by a small giggle or gasp. From time to time she shifts in her seat as she reads. The book some tawdry romance passed between housewives, discussed in whispers and giggles at tea.
