I was standing in a field of white fire again, the same place I’d seen before. But this time, it wasn’t empty. The Moon Goddess stood before me, her silver hair falling like water, her eyes calm. Beside her stood the figure of flame — taller, darker, with eyes that burned like the sun. I couldn’t breathe. “Who are you?” The flame spoke first. “You already know.” “No,” I said. “I don’t.” “You carry my blood,” he said. “The fire that can end everything.” The goddess looked at me gently. “And mine,” she said. “The light that can save it.”

Now talk to it. Let it know you’re not afraid.” She muttered, still with a calm voice. That was a lie, but I tried anyway. I reached out, inside and let my thoughts touch the flame. To my surprise, the flame moved, not away from me, but towards me.

I raised my palm and said,” let me think. I looked around the room trying to come up with a plan. The fire burning in the fireplace caught my eye. A moth flew towards it dazzled by the flame. It turned to ashes the moment its wings touched the fire. If the fire had managed to move back just by an inch the moth would have been saved. The fire is not capable of maintaining distance but I can. His pain-filled eyes flashed before me and I felt a pang of regret but I had to do this. I couldn’t let Alex burn like the moth just because he wanted to come near me.
