They landed neatly in the plastic bowl, which Adley set gingerly on the table.
“Did something happen?” I asked warily.
“Oh, no. Of course not. Ally and I take night classes at the University, so we both just got out of class.” She shook her head, “But that’s not why I wanted to talk to you. The Festival of Night and Day is coming up in a week, and you are coming with!”
“The Festival of Night and Day?” I repeated, sinking into the think padded cushions on their couch. There was a flicker of excitement in my stomach, as there always was when something magical was involved. “What’s that?”
