It pulsed once. Like a heartbeat. Waiting. I didn’t hesitate. I stepped forward. The moment my foot touched it, the world changed—not violently, not abruptly, but with quiet certainty. The castle did not disappear. It reshaped itself around me. Corridors stretched and twisted, forming a path I had never seen before, guiding me forward until I reached a door. It opened before I could touch it. I stepped inside. And found my past waiting for me. The room was vast, its walls lined with moments suspended in time—not memories, not illusions, but something deeper. Each one carried weight. Presence. Truth.

He sits in his parked car absently tapping his fingers to the beat of the song playing from his radio. He begins to imagine what would happen once he steps into the house standing before him. A feel of electric current washes through his system and he comes out of his trans, giving a mischievous smile. After turning off his cars engine, he proceeds to the entrance of the house like a star walking towards a stage for an award.

So I made a promise, from now on, I won't waste another moment without her. This morning, I walked her to campus, and normally I'd go back home or go to the coffee shop to do some work. But this time, I was on a different mission. Instead of walking back home, I did a quick G****e search and headed over to Greene Street. After a good twenty minute walk, I stopped in front of the store window, and I saw my reflection on the glass. I had to take a moment and give myself a pep talk before going into the store. Seriously, I never thought I'd ever find myself in this place.

“Stephen, you came! We thought you wouldn’t make it tonight, haha.” Stephen forced a smile. “Sorry.” “It’s fine! You’re just in time. The concert is about to start.” Just as he finished speaking, the singer’s voice rang out from the stage. “Thank you all for coming tonight. Here’s [Bridge Over the River] for all of you!” The drumbeats started, and Stephen’s heavy heart instantly sank further. [Let me see you once again, from the north to the south.] The melancholic and sorrowful song started. Stephen looked at the stage but could not see the people on it. His eyes seemed to transcend time and space, drifting back to the past.

The turmoil inside me instantly felt like a joke. I bet my smile looked far from pleasant as I pushed past the awkward driver and climbed into the driver's seat myself. When I reached the entrance of the banquet hall, Clement was already there, as if he had been waiting for me. He greeted me with a sly grin, demanding the invitation. "This is a formal event. Without an invite, I'm afraid I can't let you in," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
