ZULEIKA'S POV I stood staring out through the window with a glass of water in my hands and my phone in my other hand. I kept turning on the tap and filling water in the glass and then pouring it over the sink and watching the little joke drain it all and then I repeated the same process again and again that I lost track of the number of times I did it.

I pressed my forehead to the window. “I’m in the middle of figuring it out,” I whispered.

I looked at the man standing by the window. “Let them,” I rasped. “They will have to get through me first.”

I looked at my reflection in the car window. ---

I shook my head and stared out the window. He must be very busy having lunch with her. He wouldn’t even invite me to have lunch with him or ask me if I hadn’t eaten.
