Casey P.O.V It was Sunday morning, and the sunlight streamed gently through my window, casting soft, golden shadows across the room. The faint chirping of birds outside my window added to the serene ambiance. I stretched lazily in bed, savouring the quiet, before finally pulling myself up. Another day, another routine.

The chair, somehow, keeps growing. I walk to the window and press my palm flat to the glass. The view is unchanged. But it does not love me back.

Before I could even reach to three, a loud tap on my window sounded, causing me to roll my eyes heavenward. Here goes nothing! I unbuckled and stepped outside of the car, then pulled on a wide-eyed expression matching everybodys. Rebecca who had knocked on the window just stood next to me yelling across to others who were standing across the street, watching. Didn't these folks have anything to do? Like watch news, or tug kids in bed? “Oh my goodness. What happened here?” I asked clutching my stomach,

"You brat! You should've told us earlier…" I smiled. Thankfully, everything was now in the past. I looked out the window. A ray of sunlight cascaded through the window pane and showered the window sill with its colors. The golden sunlight glimmered as it reached my eyes.

“With me.” Outside the window, the rain finally started, tapping softly against the glass. “Yes,” I said simply. And that was that.

I almost made myself an enemy of the population by tattling my ward mates’ play dead plan. “The chef cooked more meat this time. It’s a shame that your neighbours have fallen asleep already.” I shifted my gaze because I felt awkward after lying. These women should thank me. Then my eyes caught the view on the window. “The moon is beautiful today, Miss.” “Hmmm. I thought so.” But the wind is too cold outside. I can’t risk my health to see it up close. “The windows are made of thick glass. The cold breeze outside won’t be able to seep their way inside.”
