His backstory is rich and layered, creating a sympathetic monster who grapples with his existence and the weight of immortality. It’s wonderful to see how his interactions with other characters shift depending on the narrative - in the manga, he’s often a dark mentor to Seras, while in the anime, there’s a more chaotic, wild side to him that might even scare you a little.

In the 2001 anime adaptation, he takes on a more over-the-top demeanor, playing up the suave vampire stereotype. While that adds a unique flair, I personally think it loses some depth in the psychological aspects that the manga brilliantly captures. It’s more about spectacle there, with stylish battles and less about what Alucard represents existentially. The way he relishes fighting feels almost like a game, which is entertaining but slightly skews his character development.

Then we have 'Hellsing Ultimate,' which did quite a faithful job in translating the manga's raw energy and complexities. Alucard shines here, retaining all his multifaceted layers. The animation is just stunning, showcasing his abilities and that sinister smirk that gives you chills. Here, we get to see more of his past, and it really dives into the horror of his existence, especially when he faces other supernatural beings. That depth connects with me in a way I didn’t expect – it’s like unraveling the layers of a beautifully crafted tragedy, and it truly draws the viewer in.
