A Fairytale's End
“Or do you think I suddenly became more valuable again?
“So, my family name makes me better than that loser Lance, huh?”
“That’s not it!”
She protested, hurt, and cornered.
“I’ve humbled myself, begged you. Why do you keep refusing?
“Zach, you’ve changed!”
I looked at the faint swell of her belly and felt nothing but bitter irony.
“Yes, I’ve changed.
“I’ve finally seen what a hypocritical, filthy person you really are.”
The color drained from her face.
With a thud, she dropped to her knees, clutching my legs, sobbing violently.
