The wound had mostly healed, but he looked like hell.
“Jesus, Sy.” Jade’s voice was low, her gaze flicking to me for half a second before she squared her shoulders and gripped her bag tighter.
She edged closer to the bed, wary, and for good reason. We were taught to fear wolves, trained to kill them on sight.
