I sighed before I placed it face down on the coffee table. I was still sitting there when my phone rang. I pulled it from my pocket and looked at the screen. Jade. I answered it. "Finally," she murmured. "I've been standing outside your door for ten minutes. Did you move? Because you absolutely didn't tell me you were moving." "I'm not in Drakenfall," I answered. "I'm in Hollowshade." "Hollowshade? Since when?" She gasped. "Since a few days ago." I pressed two fingers to the bridge of my nose. "Christopher's wedding. I told you about it."

I shifted my gaze to another direction, quite displeased with how he flaunted his powers. "Apologies, everyone," the presenter returned to the stage. "We've got to formally welcome the presenters of the Ice Hockey Team. They're not just the host team but they..." The cheerful noise of the audience made him halt his speech, a little smile tugging at his lips. And then he continued. Jace was happy now. And I was. "They're the powers of Velmora actually and they are here to win legally!" The presenter completed his words before opening the next one.

"You’ve got flashy hands, I'll give you that. But out here in the real world, ego gets you crushed. You think you're untouchable because of a few headlines?" She skated closer, stopping inches from the boards where I stood. She tilted her chin up, her gaze steady, completely unbothered by my intimidation. "I don't think I'm untouchable, Coach Sterling. I KNOW I'm the best skater in this program. I am the Ice Queen. You can try to put me down all you want, but you can't deny what you saw today."

The projection was pre-recorded, but it felt terrifyingly present. "Hello, little sister," The Crow’s distorted, metallic voice echoed in the cavernous space. "I see you’ve opened grandfather’s gift. Such a tragic, bloody history we share. Elias burned our father alive, and then he stole you the crown jewel of the Vane Empire and forced you to live like a common corporate peasant." Zara stepped forward, her fear evaporating, replaced by the lethal, sub-zero fury of the Ice Queen. "I am not a Vane. And I am not your sister."

The pupils of her eyes were an aqua blue colour, shining like a beacon of light. Anyone who saw her would think of her as a goddess or a deity, that arrived from the heavens. Then I dozed off to sleep. I don't know how long I napped after that but suddenly I wake up dripping wet. "OH MY GOSH!!!" I bolted upright and threw the wet covers off of me. "WHO PUT ICE IN THERE!?" I demanded. "Good morning, dear." The queen said all smiles while holding the bucket where I assume where the water came from. "They told me that you were being stubborn so I decided to drop by." Still shivering, I glared at her. "By d-drop by y-you mean drop some ICE!?" The queen did not answer but only gave me a menacing smile.

Quickly tearing the icicle protruding from me, I turn to face the cause of this, already knowing who it might be. Standing there in a cold blazing rage is Acacia. Her blue skin, red eyes and now white hair like snow gave her a monstrous image paired with her frosted eyebrows and lashes. The queen stared at me hard, not making a move to get any closer. All of a sudden, behind her a thick clear wall of ice formed. It built up from floor to ceiling in seconds. I glanced over my shoulder and the same thing happened behind me. The blurred figures of my mates pounding at the ice were all I could make out. She's trapped us in this hall together. But why?

A familiar voice drawled from the doorway, and he spun around in fright. "Jesus Valenar, give a guy some warning will you?" The warlock prince glided over to where his precious mate lay, Quinley, trailing behind him. As he peered in at her sleeping form, Quinley spoke from his side. "She's perfectly fine Val, the Ice brother's magic is ancient, more potent than anything we could ever hope to evolve to, she has had the best care possible and in a few days she will be fine."

She couldn’t take any more of the conversation. “What is not true, mother? How you were King Adam’s wife and you bring your people to nearly wipe Dzimara from the map?” “She’s human, sister. The story talks about the ice witch. Not..it can’t be?” Ambrose ignore everything as he is trying to process the information his sister keeps pouring out to them. Ambrose turns back to Zara with visions of his past flickers in her thoughts. Images he had thought was just his imagination lit up. It couldn’t be. Is Zara truly what Ariadne is insinuating?

The room went dead quiet. That was the first time our so-called Ice King raised his voice. Oh wait—he didn’t look so superior anymore. I scoffed. Bastard. I licked my dry lips. “You chose not to be patient. But guess what? Albena, the long dead queen will crush you now. You’ve heard of her legend, right?” The great white wolf lived through her. Oh, it absolutely did. The power Tobias and I witnessed… that wasn’t anything short of the Moon Goddess herself. And that wasn’t even the craziest part.
