The largest bookshelf I have ever seen occupies the west wall with sprawling dark stained walnut and hand-carved little wolves at the top of either side. There is a large bay window in the center that overlooks a small, rocky pond. The urge to run to the nook and crawl in it with a blanket and just stare at nature for days is overwhelming. But I know better than to assume relaxation is on the list of things for me to do. I run my eyes along the south wall, noting the forest green walls and the stunning water paintings that make the whole thing grand. Opulent splashes of purples and dark blues create the night sky with speckles of gold mimicking the stars. Beautiful in its messiness.

Storm walked into Kaden's treehouse and was immediately struck by how it seemed larger than usual. The wooden walls, which should be plain and simple, were adorned with colorful murals and hand-painted designs. The living room sprawled out with endless floor space, its minimalist furnishings in deep shades of gray, black, and silver. A low, angular couch rested atop a dark rug, its texture so luxurious that it felt like velvet beneath her feet.

The walls were painted a peaceful peach colour, with a large crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the crystals hanging from it shimmering with colours every now and then. A black stereo player was set against a corner of the wall, with the soothing music of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons: Winter being played from that very player. But Yuri was focused on none of these things. Her main focus was on the man leaning against the only window in the room that didn’t have the curtains drawn across it. His right arm was supporting his chin as he looked out of the window, either not noticing, or ignoring Yuri’s very presence.

And then I stop dead in my tracks. The interior is stunning: an open-plan room decorated with equal parts good taste and genuine comfort. Creams, whites, and warm browns, with splashes of color that reflect the forest beyond the huge windows covering the far wall. Nothing ostentatious. Everything seamless. Wealth evident without smacking you in the face with it. I like it instantly. Which is great, because I suspect I'll be spending a lot of time hiding in here.

I murmur, taking them and placing them in the trolley. I feel excitement rushing through me. I can already imagine them sitting on shelves around Ethan's room. Further down the aisle I find some wallpaper samples and I begin going through them. One catches my eye immediately. A soft mountain landscape painted in muted sage green with forests stretching under the snowy peaks. I stop browsing and stare at it. "Oh... Wow... It's beautiful... Isn't it?" I say, glancing down at Ethan who claps excitedly again and I smile. "I agree. This is exactly what we."
