Baal, by the way, is another Hindi word which means hair. It has proudly forayed into the world of our language’s list of commonly used abuses. It is mostly used as an empathic adjective. For instance, if you want to say, “You are an asshole” in our language, you might as well just say, “Baal”! I’ll find a different time and place to explain its linguistic usage in more details, as I am conscious that we have way drifted from our original story. To remind you the title I have in mind for it is Love Song of an Assamese Boy Written for a Bengali Girl, and it is my generous contribution to our folklore.
