We found Ash on level three, cell number fourteen. He was curled in the corner of his unit, small and shaking, his eyes dimmed from the nullification field. But when I broke the cell door open and the runes shattered, his eyes flared back to life. “Mama?” His voice was barely a whisper. “I’m here, baby.” I was on my knees, pulling him into my arms, crushing him against my chest. “Mama’s here. You’re safe now.” He sobbed into my neck, his small hands gripping my shirt with desperate strength. “They kept saying you weren’t coming. That nobody wanted me.”

Hana pointed her finger toward Ashton from afar and Ashley looked at him immediately. "What about him?" She asked in confusion. "Protect that man at all cost," Hana continued her words. Ashley scoffed, feeling that Hana was overreacting. Yet her eyes still looked at Ashton. That man was holding Max lovingly like he was the father. That view gave a warm feeling to her heart. "I'm serious, Ashley. And what's with you accepting Karl's call again? He's married and tonight was his first night as Lucia's husband. What's his deal calling you again?" Hana rebuked her like a big sister.

Kas shakes her head in disbelief as she looks at the picture. I feel anger bubble up as Saint takes in the woman's image who was responsible for kidnapping his mate. A cell phone rings, pulling everyone’s attention away from the picture. Ashley looks at her phone, confused, and stands up, taking her ringing phone to the back of the room. A moment later, she comes back, “Kas, did you give someone the asylum seeker line?” Kas looks at her for a moment. “Oh, yes. This morning, right before Tyree told me I had to leave. She is definitely a wolf. Blonde hair, blue eyes. She said her name was...uh...oh crap.”

Chapter- 16 Days passed one after the other. The Christmas vacations were coming nearby, everyone had a lot of work to complete their deadlines. Ashley didn’t have much work, so she helped Anne and her teammates to finish some of their work. So Ashley spends most of her time on their cabin after asking permission from Meghan. Hector doesn’t seem to notice whether she’s present or not, that’s what Ashley sees. Even when they cross path, he didn’t see her the way he sees her before and nowadays because of working with Anne, she doesn’t meet him often.

Ash leaned in to loudly whisper, “She means she’s a thief. A damn good one, too.” “Oh.” My brows rose in surprise. A thief. Cool. “Was that a compliment I heard coming out of your mouth, Ashley?” the other woman, Aya, asked. Ash blushed a stunning pink and Aya and Nalanie cracked up. I hid a grin behind my hand, content to watch their interaction. “That’s not my fucking name,” Ash said, his tone full of deadly promise. “Whatever, sugar.” Aya’s gaze caught mine. “Welcome to Penumbra where all the guys are dickheads but the girls kick ass. I’m Aya.”

“Why do you have so much crap to say?” Grayson fished out his phone and changed to a sim card of an unknown number before calling Angeline. In no time at all, Angeline’s voice rang out. “Hello?” Grayson imitated Ash’s voice immediately and cried out wretchedly, “Mrs. Harts, this is Ash. Please save me. Sir Ares wants to disfigure me and blacklist me. Please make a plea of leniency for me. You know I have family members to take care of. My life will be over if I’m disfigured.”

"Where's Aisha? It's been 3 weeks since I got dischaged and I've not set my eyes on her? Neither have I heard from her as well. What's going on? Please, talk to me." Imam Hussain looked dumpfounded as he was totally speechless. "Errrr..... Aisha is fine." He started thinking of words to calm her down. He didn't want to lie or cause any more troubles. "Emmm...
