“We’re with you.” Arla closed her eyes, repeating the riddle silently: "I rise from ash but do not burn." That’s rebirth. "I lead the lost, yet never turn." A guide… always moving forward. "My wings are seen in sky and flame." Wings in the fire, the air... "Speak my title. Speak my name." She breathed in deeply. Then she placed her hand over the tidepool and whispered: “Phoenix.”

Her gentle souls somehow sensed his heartlessness. "The riddle can have many explanations, my lady, " he continued. "My answer was - A boy with weak eyesight saw a butterfly perched on a bush and threw sand at it which could not reach. As per the puzzle, a boy is not a man yet, but he is still a man. A butterfly is not a bird, yet it flies. Sand is not stone, but it is composed of tiny stones and it missed because it could not reach the butterfly. My answer is correct as per the riddle."

Leaning against the hood, I removed my sneakers to feel the grainy beige sand prickling the soles of my feet. Seawood clumps were spread out across the sand as the blue waves rolled in like a rippling bedsheet. The scent of salt permeated the entire atmosphere. *** The Albatross was tousled upon the raging ocean, its prow lifting high into the air and then slamming down into the water, a fan of spray rising before being whipped away by the gale. When I raised my head, I saw flocks of Ravens in the sky right above our boat. These ravens were no normal ravens. They were black with yellow eyes and ten times a normal Raven’s size. Something felt wrong, but I couldn’t tell what it was. These birds were not the type to be found easily on sea. Perhaps their habitat had been compromised, and they were immigrating. But that thought changed when night came and there were bats almost my size hanging down while I was about to drift off into sleep.
