ARIA I listened as Valen explained the hierarchy of wolves, starting from the Alpha and working his way down to the lowest rank. At first, I thought I would be bored out of my mind. Surprisingly, it was actually interesting. Absurd, but interesting. If I wasn't trapped in the middle of all of this, I might have even enjoyed learning about it. There was something strange about hearing Valen explain how an entire society could be built around wolves and their ranks as if he were talking about something completely normal.

Lelandi recognized Sheridan as the stalker as soon as she saw him dressed in his wolf coat. It’s a shame the pickup did not run him off the road. The majority of people loped outside into the winter landscape in their wolf forms, where the snow’s upper layer was crisp and enormous snowflakes were drifting earthward. Lelandi reasoned that Sheridan wouldn’t slide through the snow like a moose or elk might, slowing him down, despite his greater size, since wolves had an edge over larger animals on deeply crusted snow. Although she had some optimism.

“Base Rank. The most common. These wolves have ordinary energy. They make up most of the packs — workers, scouts, healers, and laborers. Strong in their own right, but not made for battle.” He moved to the next. “Core Rank. These are trained fighters, guards, or soldiers. Their wolves are faster, sharper, more responsive to command. Core wolves form the backbone of most armies.” Then his hand moved down the board. “Elite Rank. Rare and powerful. Elites are born leaders, often gifted in either strength, speed, or heightened senses. Most members of the royal council, generals, and the academy’s instructors are Elites.” He paused, looking at the final word — Sovereign.

Thank you :) So, Werewolves in this story reside in packs, like normal wolves, but they live in modern houses, and do things that other people do. But here they have rankings, similar to a pack. Alpha, is the head of the pack. The highest werewolf. Beta is the second in command, almost as powerful as the Alpha, but the Alpha is obviously superior. Then comes gamma, the third in command, and then delta, fourth in command.

In the year 2021, Every Wolf in the kingdom of Katula had ranks starting from Alphas, the Betas, and Gammas down to the omegas. In most cases, the omegas were considered the lowest in rank but in the kingdom of Katula, there was something lower than an Omega. They were called the Rankless wolves. Wolves without no rank. They can either shift or communicate with their wolves. They were just wolves to be with no rank and because of this, they were used as nothing but slaves. Not different from humans because they had no wolf.

He’s totally stunned. “A Pack is a group of werewolves. We basically are like a family that protects and cares for each other. And we have a hierarchy, ranked members based on your blood and strength. So Alpha CJ is our current leader because he is the strongest and has Alpha blood. His father, Alpha Alonzo, was the previous Alpha. And then there are the Betas like me who are second in command. There are many of us Betas throughout the territory because we own so much land. Many smaller Packs wanted to join us. So that we could provide them with better protection from Rogues. And other species trying to wipe them out! There are also Gammas or third in command and Deltas or forth in command.

The word felt heavy, like something I had heard in stories but never in real life. He nodded. “Yes. Werewolves live in packs. Think of it like a family but also like a company. The Alpha is like the manager or the leader. They make decisions for the good of everyone. Under the Alpha there is the Beta, who helps lead and keep order, and then the Gamma who takes on other duties. It is a hierarchy; a system that keeps the pack strong.”

“Wow. I don't think the Lycan realm has Nomads.” “No it doesn't,” I agreed. “Lycans are more structured so they have fixed cities, fixed borders, and fixed systems.” “But,” I added. “Both realms believe in hierarchy and the order of ranks.” Pearl nodded. “Rank is important. Daddy Damian says even young Lycans have to know where they belong.” “That’s the same for werewolves.” I said softly. “But we have more ranks.” “More?” Pearl whispered. “Yes. In the Werewolf Realm, we have dominant wolves like Alphas, Betas, and Gammas. Then we have the middle ranks like Deltas, Zeltas and Sigmas. Then the Omegas who are the lower rank.”

His arms were crossed, his posture rigid, every inch of him radiating authority. I held my chin up, refusing to let him intimidate me. "Because it's obvious," I said, matching his tone with steel of my own. "I know how ranked wolves behave. I've watched hierarchies my entire life. These three?" I gestured back toward Ronan, Kael, and Turk, who stood frozen in the center of the arena, watching our confrontation with wide eyes. "They move like officers. They carry themselves with the confidence of wolves who already know their place. Ronan's the Beta, Kael's the Gamma, and Turk's the Delta. They've been ranked for a while now, haven't they?" Darien's jaw tightened, but he didn't deny it.

“So, um… how does this pack even work? I mean, beyond the Alpha and Beta stuff. I only know what little Zeke bothered explaining.” I glance back to the Alpha in question who just shrugs and looks between the both of us, smiling like he's really only happy to be here. Roman leans back against his chair, a hum of thought in his throat. “We’re a hierarchy, yes, but not a dictatorship. Every wolf has a role. Hunters, scouts, healers, enforcers… loyalty is our spine and discipline our ribs.” It's a boring discourse, but it's the only thing I can think of to discuss with him. Baby steps, I guess.
