Allen shook her head as she tried to concentrate on Ohm's scent, which was barely there, and before she could get it, she was tackled on the ground and was now laying on her back with another wolf pinning her down. The wolf was huge, and it smelled like the same alpha she had been smelling before. The wolf's fur was black with a reddish tint, and his eyes were gold. "See? Perfectly safe." I do not touch the food. "What do you want?" "To talk. To help you understand why this is happening. Why your father's choices led to this moment." He sets down his fork. "Alexander Reed was my friend once. Did you know that?" The name makes my chest tight. "No." "We grew up together. Trained together. Fought side by side for years." Asher's eyes go distant. "He was the best of us. Strong. Fair. Honorable. Everything an Alpha should be."

I could see Asher is an Alpha of unique taste. Judging from his outfit, his demeanor and now his mansion, I could just tell.

Finally, she looked up at Blair, her expression filled with a mix of shock and disbelief. Gasping softly, Alisha hesitated for a moment before she spoke, her voice carrying a weight of revelation. "Blair... you are the Alpha King's mate. It's... it's unheard of, a taboo. You're human, and in our world, such a union is deemed impossible, unacceptable. You won't be accepted as Ashier's mate, not by me, not by anyone in the kingdom." Alisha shook her head, still unable to believe that a weak human like her was the mate of a very powerful alpha king.

The veiny arms become more visible and I drool over them as different sinful thoughts of what his hands could do to my body. My nipples poked on the light shirt I was wearing as they grew harder, begging to be touched. Those sinful thoughts I had of Asher sent an electric wave through my body until it settled on my core… Enough Daisy! I shut my eyes, regaining my composure. Good thing he didn't notice, or maybe he pretended not to notice. “How could that be? Everyone loves color.” “I'm Asher Sebastian, the most powerful Alpha in Arizona. I'm different from everyone.” He declared his profile stair dangerously, having a mixture of pride.

Others just called me “Debt Girl.” I was grabbing a tray from one of the side tables when he walked in. Asher. The future Alpha. The pack’s golden heir. Six-foot-five, charming smile, and sharp tongue. The kind of guy who kissed one girl in a rooftop jacuzzi and slapped me across the face when I tripped and spilled coffee on his designer shoes. My wolf should’ve hated him, because he’s wicked and mean as hell. But she didn’t, I don’t know why. Maybe because he’s handsome in a way that makes you look twice even when you hate yourself for it.

Asher says without ever taking his eyes off of me. I could see him sizing me up the same way I had done with him. I wasn't planning on giving him any additional insights to me as a fighter until we met in the circle. He had already watched me through two battles and had seen enough, whereas I had no intel whatsoever. He's an alpha, which means he's strong, fast and ferocious. That's all I could be sure of. Alex had walked away and placed himself in the middle of the arena where Asher had stood earlier during my other fights.

Not especially when there's that profound mystery about Filippa and the lie about my identity. I only hope Filippa isn't an enemy, or that's just one of the best ways to die. I don't think Filippa is an enemy, though. I opened my eyes and directed my gaze to him. “Should've seen worse,” I responded curtly instead, and he fell silent for a few seconds as if taken aback by my short reply. Asher shook his head and said, “I'm an exclusive doctor. My work is limited…” I guess he must mean that he's the Alpha and Beta's doctor instead of the whole pack. I never expected that. I sat up and eyed him, asking, “You're more of a warrior?”

Asher said and Beth smiled at him as she bit her lower lips. "Stop doing that! You're seducing me again." He said and Beth did it again. He kissed her shortly and broke it. "I warned you!" He said with a chuckle still wrapping his arms around her small frame. There was silence for a while before Beth broke it. “So are still going to fight Alex?” Asher stared at her in the eyes. "Nothing would make me change my mind, I’m the Alpha of this pack and that means, I can’t back off from a challenge regardless of who it’s from”
