He stared after the Alpha through the clear glass windows for a moment before shaking his head and focusing back on his files. “Hello to you too, Mr. CEO,” Allen scoffed as soon as the door behind Alex closed. Leaning forward toward Sebestian, he patted a hand on the table. “What the fuck is going on Seb, do I need to prepare my knife to kill that fucker.” Sebestian ignored his partner with a beleaguered sigh. Allen sat back in his chair. Staring down at himself, he patted his chest. “Am I bad person or what?"

When Bryan walked in, he met Connor sitting behind his desk in his seat, his muscles bulging from his shirt so much that it looked ridiculous, as if it was his favorite shirt since he was 10. He stared up at Bryan with a smirk on his face before cracking his knuckles. “You’re back Alpha,” he stated, “Long time no see.” Bryan growled at him low in his throat. A warning. “Yes, I am. Now get the hell out of my chair,” He spat the words at him. Connor put his hands up in surrender before getting out of his seat and leaning against the window as he looked down at the passing pedestrians on the streets. Taking a seat, Bryan sat back before asking his secretary to leave the room.

Connor asked me loudly. “I won’t take over as Alpha knowing full well that I won’t survive this mission,” I said to him. “And how is you dying the best thing for this clowder?” he asked me. “How was Damon dying the best thing?” I yelled at him. “He gave himself over to the Council, he pled guilty to murdering the Hastings pack and they executed him. He knew it would happen but he did it for you!” Connor said angrily. “Fuck that Connor!” I yelled back.

Onstage, I noticed a massive projector and a devastatingly handsome male's picture appeared on it. “That's alpha Adonis," a girl cried out. Natalia and I, as well as the majority of the other contestants, surrounded it. Several of the girls whispered to one another and squealed with delight. The alpha was strikingly attractive, with jet black hair styled in a side part, warm light tan skin, and mesmerizing green eyes. "Damn, he looks so good," Natalia half-moaned. She then turned to face me. "We have to do everything possible to win. Either I or you win. Deal."

“Then stop treating me like—” “Not now.” The edge in my voice cut through whatever she was about to say. Good. We didn’t have time for this. The woman stopped a few feet from the gate. Close enough to speak. Far enough to stay safe. Smart. “Alpha Kael,” she said. Not a question. A statement. I didn’t react. “You have the advantage of me,” I replied. “State your name.” She smiled slightly. “Dr. Elara Voss.” Human.

The Mad One held him tightly, and the rage radiating from him sent energy pulses through the arena. "If you want him to answer you, you'd better release his throat, Alpha Black," Duncan declared, pulling out his cell phone. He took a few steps to the side and quickly dialed a phone number. Just as the phone rang to signal the call in progress, Black released Connor to the ground. The latter fell to his knees, coughing. He had kept one hand against his throat as he tried again to get closer to his Alpha. All of Connor's thoughts were focused on his pack leader. But just as he was about to touch Harry, Black gave his hand a firm kick.

It was uncommon for men like him to keep women virgins for too long. He nodded, motioning for me to go. I took a deep breath, my heart racing against my chest as I walked toward the man whose eyes were fixed on mine. Konstantin was a step behind me and I knew to get on my knees the second that I reached the man. His eyes met mine one more time before Konstantin cleared his throat. I didn’t even know what the Alpha’s name was, but a heavy feeling settled in my chest by just looking at him.

“Now I have your attention. You hit-” “Do you have any idea how much that phone costs?” he says with a deep voice, his eyes finally meeting mine. Immediately, the realization hits me and a sudden chill overwhelms me. I can’t even say a word. His dark eyes give me a piercing look and then turn to the side. “Boy, are you hurt?” he asks, crossing his hands over his chest. Derek comes to me and mumbles, “No.” “Good for you. You’re lucky I stepped on the brake when I did. If you don’t know how to cross the bloody street, don’t fucking cross at all!”

His jawline was sharp, and the aura of dominance surrounding him was overwhelming even while he stood completely still. The man slowly turned toward us. His sharp blue eyes immediately locked onto mine. Time seemed to stop. My heartbeat slammed violently against my chest. The intoxicating scent of his wolf instantly filled the entire room. Barry grinned widely. “Alana, this is Alpha Connor.” What? Connor? The name crashed into my head like lightning. I immediately lowered my gaze, breaking eye contact at once. The rumor echoed loudly inside my mind—Never look into Alpha Connor Savagaz’s eyes for more than three seconds!

Not just a wolf. But a force of nature. And no matter how much I wanted to run from him, some part of me—some maddening, aching part—knew it would be impossible. Whether I liked it or not, this man, this beast, this protector… was mine. And I was his. Our eyes were still locked when footsteps echoed across the ruined chamber. His beta entered—Lieutenant Daniel, clad in formal armor, eyes darting from the destroyed wall to the blood-soaked floor, then to the dead assassin sprawled at Alexandro’s feet.
