CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO IVY’S POV The thick iron gates didn't open to the forest immediately. Instead, the sea of upright Alphas was funneled into a massive, low-ceilinged stone staging hall built directly into the amphitheater’s outer wall. The room smelled of old iron, grease, and various scents of Alpha’s. In the center of the hall stood a massive, glowing crystal board. I pushed through the crowd, Kaelen close behind me, until I could read the glowing runes displaying the official trial pairings.

my father murmured, straightening his posture. As the elder entered the hall, my father and I followed closely behind, the heavy doors groaning as they opened to reveal the grand interior. The room was vast and dimly lit, the only illumination coming from a massive chandelier crafted from antlers and crystals.
