He was a broad-shouldered, sharp-eyed wolf with his posture rigid the moment he saw me.
“Kairos,” I acknowledged, my voice low but carrying enough weight to settle the room further.
“Alpha,” he responded with a tension in his tone, like he already knew this wasn’t going to be a simple discussion. “The elders have been waiting.”
“I’m aware.” I didn’t rush to sit. Instead, I let my gaze move across the room slowly, deliberately, meeting each pair of eyes just long enough to remind them who stood before them. Only then did I take my place at the head of the table, leaning back slightly, my fingers resting against the armrest as if I had all the time in the world.
