I growled to the empty room, slamming my fist onto the table. My wolf paced restlessly behind my ribs, his claws digging into my soul. He didn't care about politics. He didn't care about my reputation. He wanted her. He wanted to claim her, to mark her, and to roar to the world that she belonged to the Lycan Prince. But I couldn't. I was the Alpha of the most powerful pack in the North. I was a Lycan Prince. If I accepted a weak, rejected Omega as my Luna, I would be a laughingstock. The other Alphas would see it as a sign of weakness.

“They heal fast just watch.” “That doesn’t make it normal or less hurt,” she muttered. Klaus ignored that and stepped forward slightly. “Today,” he announced to the pack, “you observe.” The warriors paused. Their attention shifted immediately toward Raine and Klaus their Alpha. Whispers began almost instantly.“She’s the human…” “The one he brought back…, she’s pretty but look fragile” “Is she really Luna?” Raine felt every gaze like pressure against her skin. She stepped closer to Klaus instinctively.He noticed. Didn’t comment.

Callie looks confused and a little concerned. Deanna turns to me and smiles. “Lindsey accepted the alpha’s proposal.” “WHAT?” Callie yells. “I was just with the two of you like an hour ago. When did this happen?” “Hold on. Deanna is not telling the full story. Brady was joking around and said that if neither of us met our future mates in the next five years, then I would be his luna. I only accepted to get him to shut up.” I say with slight irritation.

My mom, Daphney's parents, and a few relatives sat in what looked like a tiny, depressing conference room in the pack of Zia's. "What are we to say to the council?" a woman named Elder Marbel finally asked after a few torturous moments of silence. "Honestly, I suppose," the Luna replied. She looked like she hadn't slept in days. "Luna, you know Aiden can't do that. We're barely holding him steady in the Alpha position as it is," she snapped, making Aiden's eyes flash with annoyance. *Holding him steady?* What does that even mean? Isn't he already the Alpha?

"Let's go and see everybody." "How do I look?" Matt asked him worriedly. "Is my hair okay?" "You look gorgeous babe," Mason replied in a mocking tone. Matt laughed and pinched his brother's shoulder as they stepped off of the path and onto the grass. Mason just nodded at the different people Matt was calling out greetings to along the way - he'd always been the more social of the two. They both liked it that way. Mason didn't see the point in talking if he didn't have to. Some people definitely found it rude but he didn't really care. He was here to prepare for his role as Alpha, not to make friends - making connections that could later be alliances were more his speed.

I growled. Shocked, she let go of Lena's hand and turned around to face me, I could see the fear and stubbornness in her eyes. “What are you doing here Scarlett? How dare you attack her?” I asked her as I walked slowly closer to her. “How dare I? I can do whatever I well please, I am Luna!” She shouts. “And I'm the Alpha.” I growl so loud, the beakers on the table shake and Scarlett takes a few steps back and goes quiet, I'm sure she can see now that I'm serious.

Perhaps, being a Luna wasn't bad at all. But then again, I was proven wrong right after I thought such a ridiculous thing. Because when I thought I had already become the Luna of our pack, Ajax's partner, leader of the people... Ajax came home. And on his side was a very beautiful female alpha, Selene Alcarez. And with our eyes meeting as if to stab my heart pointedly, Ajax announced to everyone that Selene was his mate, officially making Selene the Luna of our pack and beginning the ritual.

For the first time, I found myself wondering if there was far more to Cage than the cocky brat persona he liked to show the world. He leaned back against the rooftop wall, one muscular arm draped over his raised knee. "A Luna is supposed to be a queen," he said. "The Alpha is the muscle. The Luna becomes the brain." He pointed the neck of his bottle toward me. "She manages territory affairs, oversees the pack, influences decisions, settles disputes, controls resources. Half the power belongs to her." His voice remained calm, but there was conviction behind every word. "Some of them even learn sword fighting so they can stand beside their Alphas and fight during wars."
